So, I get why we have a 90-second login penalty for logging out in space. You don't want people to be logging out OORP all the time and switching ships.
How about we put in some stipulations, though?
For example, how about we have it not take effect in Connecticut?
And how about we allow you to sign back into the ship that you signed out of, so people who disconnected or crashed can get back in?
Obviously, we could make abusing this mechanic for PVP a sanctionable offense.
You want to make devs go to all the trouble of changing all of this just so you don't have to wait 90 seconds to relog..? I can guarantee it will take a lot longer for them to make that happen than it will for you to just wait 90 seconds.
This isnt really a pressing issue. Theres no enforceable way to keep people from just alt f4ing then saying "Oh I disconnected" when really they just quit. Theres been no issue with waiting a short bit of time to relog after someone crashes or internet hiccups. Theres no need to change it.

I am new, we'll back from long time away. and I have been disconnected while in space many times if there is a 90 second delay then I didn't even notice. As admin from other servers I don't think its long enough to warrant change.

I don't log out in space, either, but my game crashes constantly, and it really sucks to be unable to start it right back up and go in.
I'm not suggesting making their ship disappear instantly. It should still stay in space for 90 seconds, so that they can still be destroyed, but they should be able to log back in and re-enter their ship (But not log into any other ship for 90 seconds).
In a perfect world, I'd have to agree with Inferno here. It is a completely reasonable change to the mechanics to let someone who has logged out or crashed to log back into the ship, and only the ship, that they were F1-ing on. In 90 seconds, they've likely not changed any circumstances they were trying to avoid, so the penalty for F1-ing from lost-cause encounters still stands, and this is gentler to any loss of connection that is not malicious, which I think we should all consider ideal. Heck, its even gentler to the loss of connection in with malicious intent, if the person trying to avoid a death by ionstorm does manage to log back in after being immobile before the guns of a hostile ship...but are we nearly so upset with someone breaking the rules and immediately trying to un-break them?
Now, It may well not be worth the effort it would take to set up such a system. I'm not sure its possible, as it seems fairly easy to say "upon logout, ship does not dissapear for X interval" But likely much harder to check the server logs against the account holder, and make allow only one character to log in during that span. And doing that may cause undue strain on a server.
