I believe it was intentionally made to not allow transports through. It would have provided a quick way to get platinum to NL from Alberta, but since the mining field got removed I don't see any point in restricting it. It lets battleships through, so why not transports?

So that traffic would go through the lanes in California, Cortez, Manchester. Super Gate should only let through military assets inRP, but such restriction would be rather dull for gameplay and thus all non-transports can go through.

The Alaska gate should only let military assets through inRP, and anyone and their mother can go through it in any ship.
