For reference, the highest winds on earth were around 230 MPH and were GUSTS. Not sustained wind speeds, that alone was enough to probably destroy any small settlement, or knock down modern day buildings. SUSTAINED 500+ MPH winds will erode the ***** out of the surface and destroy anything that hits the surface. This is ??????????????????????????????????????
Quote:During initial surveys, individual sandstorms that lasted for several years and reached top speeds of 805 km/h were observed.
Perhaps some of those storms do not cover the entire surface and that 805km speed might not be consistent. As they last for several years perhaps when they start, they start slower and increase in speed. Maybe around the edges of the storm?
Quote:Most surface probes were destroyed in a matter of hours but revealed the existence of unnatural rock formations buried beneath the sands.
Some of those probes survived longer somehow. Some of those research teams might have invested in some seriously good weather monitoring equipment.
Also in this universe we have ships with their own gravity, shields that stop projectiles and cool pew pew lazors. Maybe we also have thrusters +anti-gav integrity shielding that can counter high winds. Maybe not at 805kms but in an area where speeds have been recorded as lower during some periods.
