Now we know the current aliens or let's say current existing living beings or known ones are Humans, the AI's, the Nomads and of course the Daam K'Vosh.
Vanilla only introduced the Nomads and their creators but it mentioned that the DK had an empire and there were other species. Now it would be almost impossible for us to simply imagine what those would look like and what they would be without asking an original Dev from Vanilla, else we'd just come up with random ones like Crossfire mod did.
But we do have infocards, easter eggs at hand, wasn't Discovery always about that? Expanding the Universe with what we have and know, best examples are:
Gallia, known through an infocard or a rumor talking about a 6th Sleeper Ship or a 5th House existing somewhere. People used that information and expanded that thing from there.
The Coalition remnants, known through the incident of the Hispania Sleeper Ship malfunctioning and a rumor saying it could've been Coalition Saboteurs. That's how we got the Sirius Coalition today.
The Artificial Intelligence, originally the first faction that brought it to life were the Harvesters which were using Junker ID and IFF at the time but the faction was done by the Easter Egg planet in the Unknown System aka old Kappa of Planet Gammu having only Robots on the planet.
We do have alot of examples like this existing within Freelancer universe be it an Easter Egg or just Rumors and I always thought with Disco using whatever we can grab from infocards, rumors there were pretty sick outcomes true to vanilla. The other thing we have of course is its predecessor Starlancer so with Freelancer Intro combined that's all the info/story we've got and can work with and imo should work with.
I know many have been trying to do stuff by just mere imagination (Phantoms, Etherium etc.), stuff they came up with themselves rather than looking for Vanilla content and I've nothing against that. But with this in mind I've been thinking, was removing the Apes from Planet Primus a good decision?
Now now, don't get me wrong, I'm glad that it destroyed every Furry maniacs dream however, after all these years I'm seriously thinking maybe we should've given it a chance to be part in the Alien clash up in the Omicrons. Hell, I'd even turn the current Core into monkeys, would make alot more sense to build an empire now :V
Anyway, I myself would find it realy sick if we had something like Chewbacca style monkeys (wookies). They don't have to be plain simply known apes from what we know from earth, we can just Roleplay that they look very similar. But with this we could introduce a 3rd alien race into the ring. (Please note that I used wookies just as an example of how an Alien Race that would look close to monkeys but are in fact not could look like, this is not to suggest that they should become like this)
It is true that compared to AI's, the Apes didn't realy have much than Primus because Robots were literally everywhere in Freelancer be it bases, docking rings etc. and I fully understand why we decided to take that over the other. But what are your thoughts? There's only so much info we have inside Vanilla that we can convert and use inside Discovery as an actual thing. Please let's keep it civil.
The spice of the Freelancer lore is purely based on the holes it left open. There really is no place for anything than humans, psionics, maltese, clones, cyborgs, nomads and robots in this franchise. If you want more, play Star Wars and Star Trek, but don't try to put those things into Freelancer.
The best thing about the Daam Kvosh is that they aren't there and won't return. The same goes for the mystery about Sol; the things beyond the hypergate; the cause of the Daam Kvosh departure/disappearance and so on. Most people already complain about the way the Nomads are portrayed, and even more people complain about how stupid some human factions are portrayed. Adding more aliens to that won't do any good to Discovery. The most alien thing we have is Gallia.

This one alien is enough tho.
It's funny tho, at the time I was against this particular idea myself, just thought bringing it back up. Also I definitly disagree with "Let's not go beyond sol and not do shI* bout what we have", no dude we should exactly expand on whatever we have left since there hasn't been a Freelancer 2 and it's literally up to us to make something out of what we already have in the game.
The "also, nomads and infectees rule all other aliens, i dont want more." is also a very weak and limited statement as we've seen what that has all lead to, overpowered masterrace which should not have been a thing, at least not for players to play. I think the apes could definitly be something where vanilla players wouldn't feel too out of place if they would see it happen. Also, the Star Wars thing was just an example damn it, a way of how not portraiting them as normal apes but as a different species that look very similar to apes from Earth.
Like I'm over with "Let's not have this, let's not have that" "#removegallia" and all that crap but rather want that we can expand the lore as detailed as possible and as loyal to Vanilla as possible.

I don't think adding new alien races is staying loyal to vanilla. It would be loyal if said alien races was referenced and hinted in vanilla. The monkeys were an easter egg, though, and should remain treated as such. Like the Democritus Infocard.
