I have a character currently running under a Trader ID with a Heavy Tanker. He mostly trades legit goods, but sometimes the pull of some shadier goods will make him smuggle a little.
The question is: Am I a trader who smuggles, or a smuggler who trades?
I would say I'm a trader, but people always query if they see a dodgy cargo.
I never give up my cargo. I will try to pay my way out, but that does not work with the law - mostly. However if they engage me because I will not yield, do I go against my ID if I fire back again - or can I get away with this under a Trader ID?
Also, I was thinking of changing my ship to a Lux Liner. If I take a smuggler ID, will the Lux still be ok to use?
You are a trader who smuggles, and you can't get away with it once caught by the law. Theoretically, firing back would mean going against your ID but that is something insanctionable. So it would be dealt within the bounds of roleplay.
As for the Lux Liner and Smuggler ID combinaiton, it could happen to be true but then again you might need to back it up with an explanation or story.

Thanks for clearing that up. So as a trader, other than taking flight, I'll have to give in to the demands of the house I'm in. I may have to go the Smuggler route.
