"Salutations Mister/Miss Leviathan
I enjoyed the tour you took me on. Your system is quite beautiful and I believe I shall paint it, as we dicussed I would very much like to be a official correspondence between Auxesia and the Zoner Consensus. I am a Consensus member, and as you know I am very much impartial, neutral and peaceful. I realise the age of the Zoner Diplomat may be in the past now, I am no Doc Holiday but I do strive to be the best I can be in diplomacy. I look forward to your response.
"
You surprised me with your politesse, and continue to surprise me.
I appreciate the offer but - Do you have any idea what kind of headache-inducing position you're volunteering for? Not that I have any doubts to your ability as a diplomat, but putting yourself on the political line for us is a risk. Many nations, organizations and factions in the Edge Worlds and surrounding systems want us dead, and I'd be lying if I said the feeling wasn't mutual in some of the accounts. I won't bore you with the history.
In any case, I don't know how much progress you'd make. I'd also warn that people might not respect your neutral position and see non-action or acting in our best interests/on our behalf as taking a side. It has happened before, and I wouldn't want you to be subjected to the blow back of having any kind of association with The Covenant. If however you're still serious, there are a lot of people who have pre-conceived notions about who and what we are, so I'd suggest you take some time to inquire and learn about our society and its history with the communities out in your side of the Sector.
I'd be happy to provide any assistance necessary in tracking down whatever information you feel is necessary.

"Thankyou for the reply
I very much understand understand the position I am volunteering for. People may not see that I am ultimately neutral in all things, but I am willing to take any flak if things do get difficult. I know of your history and I forgive you for the transgressions in the past, because that is who I am. I am peaceful, non-violent and understanding of all viewpoints. I'm loyal to the Consensus but I also uphold my own integrity, honesty, objectivity and impartiality in all things official business. We need to talk to each other. We never know in advance what the outcome will be, but I do know that not having a understanding of viewpoints will just result in more violence and more bad karma. So I shall use patient, persistent and undismayed effort to be a Zoner diplomat, or else I betray what my religion and indeed my position is.
"
Your integrity is admirable. If the history you know of only covers past transgressions, then there's much you don't know. Those 'transgressions' have never been directed towards the Zoner community, but rather the groups that take advantage of their security. For instance I'm sure I told you about our hyperspace escapades and taking ships back to our territory? We've done that a few times.
But there's more to us than just kidnapping big ships and ripping them to pieces. There's the countless hours and days we had spent coming to the rescue of a couple Freeports, saving convoys, mining operations - You know, hero stuff. Building bridges through a common enemy. We've even defended the station you manage many rotations ago, being part of a joint task force to put a hamper in The Core's advance back in the day. We were there when it was The Order banging on the Freeport's door in Delta. We were there even when there were aliens to deal with (Which is basically all the time), and each time we did so with the only condition being that we be left alone for the most part, or credits here and there to fund our supply requirements.
The volatile and shifting nature of the Zoner community at large is shortsighted and naive. It makes it quite difficult to solidify ties or maintain a positive relationship. No offense. Rationality is in short supply and I find it increasingly more difficult to observe the regional leaders that have risen continue to make the same mistakes as their predecessors that faded away. That's a personal issue for me though. Observing repetition. I hate it.
Anyhow, before I get lost in some story again, this isn't an option I can agree to without consulting the others in the Inner Phalanx, so I'll bring it to their attention. Things are kind of heating up in the surrounding systems, so my focus might shift. Rest assured though that your volunteering hasn't gone unnoticed.
