How you dare bring negative feedback in internet? Think about all those beatiful flowers which will never blossom, about all those special snowflakes which will melt, and this all due of your toxicity! How irresponsible you are to have different opinions in net, filthy opressors!
With absolutely no intention to kill your creative mood dudes, I'd like to say that your mod will depend A LOT on players that you will get. New mod gameplay might differ from any other like this thread differs from any other thread.
With only this concern, I'd like to suggest matchmaking. I'd like to play a mod where players are sorted to events/battles by numbers, ships and number of kills they had. Ok, it will not be perfect, but could you try to push at least some fairplay, all together with awesome new features you are bringing?

+1
Kamarad Okunev and me will make a faction in new mode and tag it Toxines| . Our chars will be Toxine|Negative.Feedback, Toxine|Never.Blossom, Toxine|Different.Opinion, Toxine|Filthy.Oppressor... And we will fly into battles without guns and thrusters and no shields!
I would rather people stuck with voicing their opinion, support/curiosity (or lack thereof) concerning this intriguing project. At worst, ignore that which doesn't float your boat and go be cynical to someone who will care, like a plant, or your cat.
@Kahlmera : I do not know what they teach you in the US Army, besides of course "Oh we've more money than we know what to do with, go nuts, who needs professionalism anyway", but one of the key points in French military doctrine is to keep your mouth shut unless someone demands that you speak or you have something critical or smart to say. Banging on against better sense about how important it is that your opinion be heard and uncontested, even if it's silly and overblown like calling others who DARE make another FL mod "traitors", is something that would have cost you a good part of your career.

hey I don't mean to be a dick but whats with people circlejerking their military experience to a community that can't verify any of it anyways
Anyway, this project idea is pretty cool and I think the devs involved are nice guys. I think the only thing is that discovery's pretty niche in part because its not advertised to the science fiction community enough (I mean honestly nobody plays freelancer anymore besides maybe like 100 people in this world maximum) and also the downloading/installation process.
So if you guys could simply the downloading and installation process and figure out how to penetrate other sci fi communities (not 'roleplay' communities, because that's niche too) then this might help increase the playerbase. You'll have to deal with a ton of new people who don't know how to roleplay yet though so that's something you may have to tolerate.
So whenever you guys have a working build, you might wanna set up two servers, one roleplay (that you need to show you can roleplay in order to get access too) and one without roleplay, where people can just come in and have fun and get hooked on the game without getting banned for a rule they don't yet understand.
And this thread STILL going? Wow. Just state your opinion and move on people, no need to put unnecessary salt here like kindergarten. Also @Kalhmera fucking hell dude, what does your military experience and veterancy has to do with this place?

The overall mod management and user experience had been our top priority for the mod. We've got plenty of ideas about hooking people and such, and overall just making the mod as simple to use and bug-free as possible. I've been working on automated tools that should hopefully detect issues before they arise and not make it into the final build as often, for example.
Regarding your second point, I think it's a fair idea, but it honestly depends on how successful we are.
