Discovery Community,
While we have been fortunate enough to a good number of years participating in this community, at some point, we must all accept the reality that nothing persists forever. Our lives change, often in drastic ways, and we hope it's for the better. The community has had their ebb and flow, through trying times and those times that we cherish, and IRG itself has found itself without a good place to be.
Our members have had significant changes in their lives since we started, and now, with the changes I've personally encountered, find myself without the time or interest to continue on. IRG lacks the internal structure and vision to continue pushing our highest performance and offering the best quality we can offer the community in writing and content, so rather than continue on with just a shadow of its former self, and the vision that Finn started (which it has arguably already become), Finn and I have decided that IRG will be disbanding.
We expect that the community will find ways to accomplish our fade into obscurity with our disappearance, as well as the Zoner community absorbing the loose assets associated with our group. We welcome due speculations and required notions to seamlessly transition anyone's group to what they need to be as well as close any unfinished projects. I will be similarly unavailable, as I'll be tending to my responsibilities and health outside of the game, and playing games that better suit my interests. Feel free to reach out as necessary.
It's been an incredible journey. One that started back in 2011 with the creation of the character Finn McCool and the original Ingenuus. Countless hours ingame, on the forums, on Skype, etc - all developing the stories and roleplay possibilities with many in this community. Both good and bad, the amazing moments and the drama-filled arguments. All in all, I wouldn't trade away any of that time spent.
I wouldn't have been able to start the IRG or foster it's growth to the official faction it was up until today with the help of many people. Too many people to list, but really thank you to the Disco community for years of fun RP.
Finn and the Ingenuus ship are still ingame, as they split inRP from IRG as they are infected now, so they may pop in from time to time. But the IRG, while disbanding, won't disappear forever. It'll still be around in some form or another, in Disco or otherwise. Too much time spent to just close up shop completely.
I will though request that the IRG name and tag not be used in the future, unless resurrected by myself and/or Aristaan.
Thank you again Disco Community for the great times.
IRG has been one of the most interesting and most helpful factions since I joined Discovery about three years ago. Some of the coolest roleplay experiences have been with some of the IRG players, be it Jazzi als Thallia Thorn, Arioch as Finn McCool or Erzie as the one guy who used a Nephilim as battleship and actually pulled off something that way.
It's sad to see this thread, but understandable. I guess we'll see each other in Star Citizen in 2035.
It’s sad to see IRG, as well as the players involved, go. IRG had a very unique niche in Disco and even people that didn’t like the faction had to agree the rp provided was top quality. Clearly it’s up to the leaders to decide to disband or not but I do want to say that stating that the faction lacks the infrastructure or vision to continue delivering its quality seems like a huge discredit to the efforts of Dartes.
I have seen him reach out to other factions to try and set things up for IRG, as well as doing his best to handle waiting customers despite not having the responsibility within the faction to do so, let alone the juristiction to process and resolve those issues. I hope that at the very least the other members have voiced their appreciation of his efforts.
This decision was not intended to discredit Dartes or anyone else who put forward good work within the faction in any way. Dartes always delivered great effort, and with the right guidance brought great quality as well. We definitely appreciate their efforts, and all those involved, as it was part of building a unique and creative experience.
