Could someone help me understand how the defense platform works when under attack? If it is under attack, they would attack the ship shooting it, or the ships with a taghostile set on a POB.
What I would like to know is what stops the defence platforms from firing when under siege?
Thanks!

They stop when they lose line of sight due to friendlies or certain constructions and asteroids, however due to speed of projectiles and delay, it may still connect with these. (not all, also does not always effect the health bar if the object is not a player)

Good to know. TY.
These ships were in direct line of sight to the base.
"Weapons platforms take damage while the shield is online and are destroyable. This does not destroy your defense module. Weapon platforms do take damage from the environment and this damage does activate the shield. If a weapons platform is destroyed it will respawn 15 seconds after its destruction."
There were two defences platforms spawned, but not firing. Any other reason?

Queried with the owner and he said it was full of H-Fuel, FOW, RH, RA and HS, and the tags of the attacking ships were set to hostile.
I think it also depends on what base mode the base is set on. I am sure there is a mode where it does not fire even if target ships are set hostile.

That IS very helpful. TY

If the attackers are somehow green (manually tagged or depending on base defense mode) you can shoot at the base all you want without triggering the defense.
