Quote:I mean I see no point in replying to that, to be honest. Why are you talking about Russia here? Are you okay?
Quote:Mafia bosses are also not known for deep political theory
Obviously to your take about politcs and mafia, because Russia is biggest resource-mafia state in the world. Where is border between mafia and "house-style" politcs?
As well i used it as argument because it was in depression stance on my memory yet, and i remember heroine syringes laying everywhere. Your take about drugs is right, but very depend is cardamine high-tier drug inside bretonia or low-tier, in other words - how big excesses on it.
Same with take about raids, shade eco never allow you seize something for "free", you either pay to your gang to provide forceful support of your efforts, or either you pay to protection to other local forces. Need compare is it lesser or bigger than just buy/barter gold.
Having these kinds of videos is always appealing, I find myself watching random people twitch streams, just to watch Freelancer even when I'm not actually playing it. Media is always good.
But we as a community, we need to become more open to the outside. It's easy to PM someone in Discord and be like; " Wanna RP for an hour" - They log on, RP, the Log off. There's no "Discover" anymore, I feel.
I know from my own experiences that most of Disco now consists of Freelancer Traders, Pirate Indies, and of course Official Tagged ships. Who all will happily say "Greetings" as they pass by, we need to force some more RP. If you've got a Freelancer Fighter, and see a trader... ask if they want an escort?
Earlier I saw some SCRA in Omega-47, 1 trader, and 2 escort fighters. And I was so happy seeing that! Yeah, they had probably organised it from Discord, but in-game, it was a beautiful sight. Hell even BPA did it with their traders!
If your trading and see a Freelancer offer some credits for an escort. Then sit and chit chat, even in RP, or OORP ( In group ) Get to know each other and create new friendships.
Help out where ever you can, as a single player, you can't do much alone. As a community, you can do so much more.
If anyone remembers, The Joker was a character from one player ( An unknown player on the forums IIRC ) - But he was active, and he RP'd and eventually he had a gang, Joker's-Thugs, and I remember blocks of players joining this mini-faction due to the activity - Vets, New Players, and all between joined, just to be part of it.
Be part of the game.
Also, side note. Having [The_Angels] helped with new players, the amoutn of PM's I got when I joined was insane, I just sat in New York, and Alt tabbed while reading the fourms, and come back in 2 mins later, for a PM from a new player asking about upgrading their ship.
Side - Side Note - The guys ( Devs and Mods ) have tried to make Disco friendly, I saw a automated message saying if you saw someone breaking the rules to HELP THEM, before sanctioning them. HELP THEM. That wasn't in the automated concoles back in the day. HELP People. Help each other.
I want to be clear that anybody can create fun RP experiences that involve teamwork with only a few players online. Here's an example from today.
TL-DR: Pirated a tagged OS&C| Liner, but saw he had 25 units of Gaian wildlife aboard - gaian wildlife takes up higher than 1 unit of cargo, so we needed 3 ships present in order to pirate all of it. We had to wait around for another teammate. RP haggled about the logistics of pirating the wildlife, how we could feed and look after them. Chatted with the liner captain about his cargo and his tour route, from a hostage situation perspective. All parties present enjoyed the encounter, and then piracy happened. The encounter will likely trigger forum RP with the Gaians later. The indie Unioner enjoyed the encounter so much that they're now joining UN, and we got thanked by the trader for RPing. Anybody can create original encounters like this.

There was no PVP in this one, but you can do this with pure PVP encounters, too. Find an interesting InRp spin on it, that builds the immersion of the universe. I see people doing this by going into PVP with odd ships. It was a piracy encounter as cargo was stolen, but ended up with the pirate paying the Liner's bar to buy some booze. That's one way to do it. If you're bored, switch things up a little. Your ID's give you a vast amount of latitude as to how to interact with the Discovery universe.

You say that, yet his examples in this thread seem pretty spot on. Why dismiss it if what he says seems accurate?
If anything if he had a history of this behavior like you said, I would say it seems he learned from it and showed as much here.
I'm personally a big fan of mostly rp encounters, admitively due to in no small fact that I'm mediocer at pvp at best.
One of my favorite encounters in the game in the roughly year and a half I've been here was getting pirated.
The interaction ended with me losing a decent amount of money, though not as much as I might have if you read the logs, but it was fun over all
and provided interesting ideas to include in the rp I've been working on while forumlancing.
Though there was a blemish on the experience in that my forum post led to one of the parties involved being inrply punished as my post included logs.
That still feels wrong to me, someone getting punished for people oorply being able to read threads on the forum...but that's not a topic for this thread.

The cynicism is the problem, Silverlight.
It's not a hot-take. It doesn't get you anything. It is the problem. I think you know that too.
When people say things like that about you, it isn't coming from a place of cynicism it's just genuine caution given your track record being what it is. You've made quite the name for yourself by being consistently inconsistent so far as your conduct is concerned. He said what was on his mind, and it should prove alarming to you that quite a few people would be inclined to agree at present. It's one thing to come back and say nice things, it's entirely different to prove that there's been any change to your usual MO.
And on that note I'd prefer if this thread defaulted back to its initial and more practically inclined purpose rather than act as an exhibition of what'll only serve to turn people away.

Why do you theorize so much? It's a game that is not making much sense. But even then I think that feudal countries can easily be a thing with 500 million people, considering they are spread over the full-sized planet. Pretty sure that feudal Europe had a higher population density at that point. But I fail to ee the purpose of going in and trying to counter vanilla lore that directly. I mean yes, it's some kind of feudal noble republic that is exporting drugs. Drug cartels in Latin America are rich and powerful enough to fight the government armies without being a state. Fighting armies is including a large degree of organization and discipline, mind you.
You are implying that there are reliable ways to deliver large amounts of goods from Bretonia to Malta in the first place. Why? Or you implying that it would be transported to Malta in large amounts in the first place which is kind of wrong. It would make much more sense to sell it on the local black markets with Junkers and whatnot. And bring to Malta stuff that is needed there.
I don't want you to leave or say that your RP is bad. I welcome RP player lore written, as long as it's not countering vanilla or harming the gameplay. Which is sadly the case in current Outcast Tau and Bretonian diplomacy. At least Durandals points made on the Outcasts are just objectively basing on it. With that, sadly, you are going in direction of Republic of Malta, which is far from canon Outcast play.
Theory is the basis of practice. Especially when practice is poorly implemented due to inherent game engine limitations.
To assume that the population of a post-industrial world to be scattered in the manner the medieval pre-industrial society used to is not valid. Post-industrial societies are highly urbanised and tend to live in big concentrated megalopolises. Besides, unlike medieval feudal Europe, they came in a unified fashion aboard a sleeper ship with some basic administration needed to establish a society.
Referring to the Cartels - indeed so. But we have a Maltese fleet now. Actually, due to caps being implemented and us having advanced shipyards and lorepages dedicated to that - we are already talking about Discolore wherein Maltese at least given the existing assets have a pretty solid organisation and discipline. Not of Gallic Royal navy for sure but enough to fight a limited war. Most importantly, we have the economy to sustain the warmachine.
There are ways to deliver pretty good amount of goods from Bretonia nowadays. Less fast yet pretty safe: IMG are scattered, royalists retreated, CR being neutral and Bretonia favourable. It is not the share of goods of an interhouse trade yet still sufficient. And definitely the profit margin is higher than piracy if you calculate the risks under Decision Making Theory formulae.
As for the canon. First, we are talking about Disco - the lore is already a bit different from vanilla. Secondly, if we RP a static RP environment - than count me out. If there is no way for development either way, there is no point, at least in my opinion. The Republic of Malta is a good example. Despite us being at inRP odds, I am fond of the sheer amount of efforts put behind the RP that is pretty detailed and tries to give OC a new light. Similar to real life, there are different parties with different views on how to develop - that is part of politics. This is the best about player-driven RP games. Russia drastically changed its political course twice throughout 20th century. Korea split. China became hardcore stagnating communist regime only to be reborn as world's economic powerhouse after Den Xiaoping's reforms. Dynamics is what keeps RP interesting. If there are simple mediocre-level writing lore stories - then it loses its charm. That said, perhaps Republic of Malta will assume the leadership of Malta later on and change its political course, or change itself in line with new challenges and circumstances. If we stick to canon-RP only with no dynamics, then I would rather opt for other non-player driven games with RP capabilities - better quality time then.
