The projects had been many months in the making, and while initially not every party that knew about it approved, they were eventually left in the dark. A small deception, an omission of truth if anything, allowed the GRG to continue their project with the Legacy of Orillion cell for the Order.
Now that the GRG had upheld their end of the bargain and provided the Legacy with an Aquilon carrier the time had come for them to get their compensation; a newly built Reshef class cruiser of Order design. While in negotiations some concessions had been done regarding the sensors that would be onboard the vessel, the state of the vessel was still state of the art compared to the its Sirian counterparts.
Secrecy and stealth were paramount in getting the vessel out of Order territory without being detected by vessels belonging to the Order Overwatch, even Order vessels belonging to other cells were likely to report their findings which would cause irreparable damage to the relations between the two Order factions, not to mention the repercussions it would have on the GRG.
After much planning it was decided that the Reshef would officially go out on ‘patrol’ on behalf of the Legacy, only to be lost in the nomad infested clouds of the Omicron Chi system. The system was long suspected to contain a Nomad Hive, though no conclusive evidence was ever found. It would not be unrealistic that a sole cruiser could be overwhelmed and taken down by the Alien menace.
The plan went off without a hitch, the cruiser arrived in the system and while there were definitely Nomads present there was no significant strike force or battlegroup equipped to take on a capital vessel. In the cover of the clouds the GRG boarded the vessel and were handed control of it.
The Legacy agents onboard were provided passage back into more familiar and hospitable territory such as Corinth Research Station in the Omicron Kappa system. The Reshef itself however was, for the time being, unable to return. Arriving at Livadia Shipyard with an Order cruiser would no doubt cause Velvet to alert the Order Overwatch, as such improvements and repairs would have to be made in space for now.
The GRG, not one to waste the chance to turn a problem into an opportunity, seized the chance to start preliminary survey scans on planet Vanuatu and its moon Malekula. The moon in particular seemed of great interest.
For now the Reshef hides in the safety of the Tafea cloud, occasionally approaching the planet and moon when it requires more indepth scans.
The data analysed from Malekula, are amazing. Yet the cruiser is not at its fullest power, the team on site made an amazing job.
From more deep scanning, they managed to understand that what was seen from space was true: very massive constructions. But with what purpose?
From that distance they seemed only big blocks of unknown material. And they must have been for a very log time here.
The atmosphere is toxic, at least for humans, as it's mainly composed of xenon and argon. Who knows what, whoever or whatever built those, was intending to do with them.
Meanwhile planet Vanuatu, can't either support lifeform, as its atmosphere is very toxic to, any known life form.
With the current capabilities of the CV-Alaunus, any further scannings cannot be done, as the vessel is not prepared for this type of mission.
The Genesis Board has been considering to transfer the vessel effective immediately to Livadia's drydocks, where, Mr.Lawrence himself would start the work on the vessel.
The CV-Alaunus is still holding its place in Malekula's orbit.
All the time they have spent there, the crew managed to escape several Nomadic incursions, as the system is apparently infested with them.
The vessel is unharmed, but it seems that the basic weaponry it has, won't help too much to its cause, so it would need heavy improvements to the weaponry systems aswell.
Mr.Lawrence has to yet give the call for the transfer of the vessel to Livadia, because he wants to understand exactly how it performs in hazardous situations, to understand better what the vessel needs, in refitting matter.
The nomadic attacks are frequent in the system, where they need to defend their position, and hopefully not going to get destroyed by a sustainable force.
The vessel is too valuable for the Genesis.
After a lot of thought, Martin sent the order to bring the vessel to Livadia.
Seemed that the test he was trying to conduct, seemed to be successful, as this was needed to simply understand where they could improve. And there was still plenty room for improvements.
Main issue was to bring the vessel to Livadia, where they'd seal the drydock so nobody could actually see what's going on inside, but the crew of the CV-Alaunus, checked for alternate jumpholes, and they discovered that there was one to Omicron Kappa. How convenient. So close to the shipyard, and odd that nobody even saw this connection. Nobody bothered, was the general guess, but this can be a convenient route indeed.
Now that Malekula is something worth of studying, Mr. Lawrence should be intrigued by it. That's why he wants this vessel to be one of the best vessels around.
After arriving to Livadia, Martin already laid down a plan to upgrade the vessel.
Phase one, consists in reorganizing the vessel's main systems, from fueling, which would be supported by one powercell and an auxiliary one, rebuilding the energy conduits, installing a new cooling system so the vessel won't overheat, reinforcing the vessel with Iridium plates, and rebuilding some of the hull parts with a more different alloy, the "Ultraalloy".
Then replacing several electronic parts with more advanced components, and constructing new ones in case of need. Then in the end, upgrading the internal communication systems by using small scale lasers for data transfer, to optimize the speed of the processors.
Phase two, consists in arming the CV-Alaunus like no other vessel. Martin thought of using some blueprints of two weapons, the "Mauler" and the W(plus)7754KT Cruiser "Repeater" Turret.
Then, there will be installed two Pulse Cannons and the rest are going to be Cruiser Primary Turrets.
Basic Alloy: 60 units
Armaments: 75 units
Nanotubes: 125 units
Lasers: 155 units
Nanocapacitors: 105 units
Robotics:70 units
Industrial Materials: 70 units
Super Alloy: 140 units
Magnets: 30 units
Phase three consists in extending the vessel's research capabilities.
Several laboratories will be installed on the CV-Alaunus, in order to utilize it's long range scanner to the best. Said laboratories will include, experimental engineering, chemestry, biotechnology, geology, astrophysics and xenoarcheology, as the Alaunus will be a strategic vessel in Chi to study the two planets that the Genesis found there.
In order to build said laboratories, the Genesis will have to gather the following list.
Industrial Materials : 6000 units
Basic Alloy : 5000 units
Nanocapacitors : 2000 units
Superconductors : 1400 units
Shape-Memory alloy : 1000 units
Lasers : 1200 units
Magnets : 700 units
Energy Field Equipment : 400 units
Quantum Multiplexors : 800 units
Gravity Field Stabilizers : 400 units
After some time, we managed to transport the necessary goods for the Phase one . The modifications to the CV-Alaunus are beginning as this is recording.
The commodities necessary for the Phase three are going to be acquired right now from a third party, to speed up the process while the engineers work at the Phase one.
Phase two will be left for last, as it can come on a later note.
The phase three commodities have been transported by Universal Shipping to Corinth Research Station, where our logistics division will be transporting those to Livadia for the construction of the scanner from the ground up.
The construction is estimated to take a few days of work from our engineers, aswell as the mounting.
The Phase one of this project however has been completed, so all the structural upgrades have been implemented with no issues.
In the end, for the Phase two, the weaponry the CV-Alaunus will be using, they will still be request said commodities to a third party, as the logistic division is busy with the Junker project.
Finally all the phases have been completed.
Everything that has been constructed around the CV-Alaunus seems to be proceeding as expected, and in due time it will be ready for departure from Livadia Shipyard.
For the moment, the vessel will retain standard equipment, until the Genesis will be using more advanced equipment on it.
