I realise that it has been quite some time since I last updated this thread but some RL stuff came up which required my attention although it has not yet been resolved.
I have tried a number of ships using the single player game with the options that darkwind kindly provided. If only teleportation was available in the multiplayer game. lol
I have tried the Junker Salvager and I liked it. The cargo size is reasonable, the weapons are pretty decent and it is easy to manoeuvrer and fly. The only downside that I found is that when mining for helium for example, it does not auto store the mined materials. That means that the tractor beam needs to be constantly used which is a bit of a nuisance IMO. It must slow it down a lot because it takes a long time to fill the cargo hold with helium. A number of other ships have the same problem, IMG Transport has a slightly larger cargo capacity but everything else apart from the lower price is inferior and it also does not automatically collect the mined helium. The Hogosha Armored Transport is another which does not do it. It is very similar to the Junker Salvager although lower in cost with a slightly lower cargo capacity. The Armored Transport is quite nice and it does auto collect mined stuff and is fairly nice to manoeuvrer but the cargo is quite small.
The Gallic Mining Ship is fairly poor IMO. The cargo capacity is 1000 lower than the Junker salvager and so is the armour and energy. I did try it but cannot remember whether it auto collects mining cargo. I can get over 18 million with a run with helium with the Junker salvager and it would be under 16 million with the Gallic Mining ship. I currently have close to 100 million in funds but still have no idea which ship to purchase ATM.
The Junker Salvager is questionably the best so far but does have a pretty big deficiency with the cargo collection and slow mining. It is also fairly expensive for what it can do. The weapons are very nice though and I would be confident of beating most vessels that give me any hassle.
If the Junker Salvager was better with the cargo collection then I would get it but at 107 million I do not think it is worth that much. Hopefully I can still find something better. I will have to try a larger ship to see if they are any better. The hegemon is out because that is a POS. I am fed up with it sticking in jump gates. It never seems to align itself when going into them no matter how well I try to line it up. .....After checking there doesn't look like there is anything else. The Hogosha Armored Transport narrowly beats the Junker Salvager for it's manoeuvring specs at the lose of 200 cargo. Whether it does in practice I do not know because it has been some time since I tried it. Therefore none really do all that I require. I can see why some use other users to help them but that means relying on others being around when you play.
Be aware, mining bonuses DONT work in single player , auto storing probably as well, and as for auto storing cargo when mining with Junker Savager, that was working when i mined with Salvager, but since i havent play for a while, things may have changed.
Salvager is best used with Junker ID in multiplayer, to mine Premium Scrap, then to transport that scrap to sell location in distant system, or to sell in nearest POB,it will not mine other ores very fast. Use only Salvager's slots 4,5,6 and 7 for mining lasers that are placed on similar locations on ship( if mining lasers dont hit ore fragment in same time, only first shoot is counted for bonus, all hits that folows are meaningless).
Another good option is kamome with GMG ID, you can mine helium in pensilvania, drag it to sigma to sell there, then mine helium 3 there and bring back to new york for sell, good two way mining and sell rute with one ship and ID.

Thanks for the recommendations. I am trying to decide between the Salvager and the Hogosha Armored Transport. They are very similar ships with very close features and prices (expensive). The Hogosha Armored Transport does appear to have slightly better manoeuvrability although the details in FLStat are a bit cryptic. Do you or anyone else know how "Max Angular Speed (deg/s)" and "Angular Distance from 0 to 0.5 sec (deg)" relate to the manoeuvrability? Having higher values seem beneficial seeing as the fighters have higher values. I would think that "Max Angular Speed (deg/s)" translates to turning circle or ability to turn quickly. "Angular Distance from 0 to 0.5 sec (deg)" looks like it is the amount of degrees (turned?) in 0.5 seconds. Those two do not seem to translate exactly in some cases. There is a fighter where the Ang dist is higher than the top fighter with max ang speed.
Does anyone know the meaning of those two items and which I should favour the most?
Hogosha Armored Transport
ang speed=24.06 (+5%),ang dist=7.61(+5%)
Junker Salvager
ang spd=22.92,ang dis=7.25
The spec differences are not massive but every little helps. The prices are identical $107 Million
In comparison the Hegemon Asteroid Miner
ang speed=28.65,ang dist=9.34
Identical to the>
Rheinland Mining Ship cargo which has 1 less turret but I suspect that it is the same ship and large hull.
ang speed=28.65,ang dist=9.34

Unfortunately the mining guide does not include all of these ships, there are some important omissions relevant to me.
And when I came back because of the changes devs put in I regrinded entirely solo by mining. First sunburst.
- And the Behemoth on ALG ID was my weapon of choice. 20 mill, nice turn rate, 3k cargo and 3.0 on 3 ores
-Cheap
Better bonuses than hegemon
-WAY better on lanes, way more fun to fly and easier to operate.
I still have that +salvager and sometimes solo mine and haul for a treat.
I would suggest you get one or both of these ships that will be useful even later on and you can use them both for filling others and solo mining +hauling.
And just join a mining discord and /or faction for the rest - They will tell you what miners are best for what ore and coordinate fills with you. I don't find the process much fun and only do it to RP more or less but other people seem to enjoy it, so join them and they will tell you the specifics.
I went with the Hogosha Armoured Transport, mostly because of the slightly better turn rate compared with the Junker Salvager. Unfortunately I could not use a Freelancer ID with it because it said incompatible tech and seriously lowered the power to 10% if I remember correctly. Pitiful whatever it was. That left me with the only choice of using a Hogosha ID which gave me 100% power. The hogosha ID destroyed my rep and I had most factions hostile to me. I did manage to improve it a bit but there is still far to much bad rep with the character that I do not think it is worth continuing with it. The ship is a disaster and has ruined everything and cost me a lot of credits.
The question I have is what can I do now? I would like to go to the Junker Salvager but using the same character seems a mistake due to the very bad rep. Can a Freelancer ID be used with a Junker Salvager without it affecting the ship power because of incompatible tech? I do not think that I could improve it sufficiently. Should I just delete the character after moving the money and selling the ship for the lowest price ship that I can? I do not seem able to purchase a Sunburst which is cheap. They are only available on planets which I cannot land on. Freeport 5 and Luxury Liner Shetland both have it and I should be able to dock, fingers crossed with the rep but Luxury Liner Shetland in Poole does not seem to exist any more. Does anyone know what happened to it? Freeport 5 has high radiation so I would prefer to avoid there if possible.
Is there any other way of doing this, ie restoring my rep and swapping the ship for the Junker Salvager? If I delete the character, can I then re-create it with a blank rep and start ship?
I need some advice on what is the best thing to do.
Keep the ship
Make a new character
And buy a new ship there
Try
-Newcharacter
-/restart licorpuniversal
And you have lawful rep and access to all liberty lawful transports that can dock on all lawful bases
You can also then do /sandcash [Newcharactername] amount from the old one to give it money
Eventually you will have have many characters and accounts with different rep.
salvager and raba
They are very specialised transports
Raba is pretty much the best smuggling ship you buy if you intend to run from people and fight them if you get caught as it has gb core and great arcs where weapons can fire in a lot of directions
Salvager less so, but it's used to mine premium scrap and military salvage - the best solo mine haul ship in the game with big bonus on one mining commodity
Both organizations are covertly criminals and smugglers, that's why they have unique ships and bad rep in many areas (they can pirate there)
And obviously freelancers don't know how to operate them.
selling ships
To sell ships and especially armor at higher price
Go to forums
Look at marketplace
And go to ship dealers and you can say you want to sell it and at what price
And then when you do ask the buyer how to transfer it
You will get more money
discord
Join the official discord and ask questions in help and support
Just spam basic questions there
And people will answer
Don't be afraid of sounding stupid, there is a lot of ***** going on anyways
Ok,this i sugest you do:
First, sell hogosha (or use it as smugler ship) ,you can sell it on forum market for at least 25% better price.
Then restart new character ,with ID and ship with one of recomendations we gived you.
Reparing ruined reputation is very hard and tricky ,so better to use clean restart .
Salvager only works well with junker ID,Freelancer ID wuld be worthless.
Detailed instructions:
Start new character, and than type in chat in game:
/Restart:fcJunker
That will temp kick you of server, go back to same character after 20 secunds and now you will be junker, with matching ID,rep and on junker base.
Then go back to your ruined character, sell ship ,and send all cash to new character(let say you name it Dwarf ,and that you have 150.000.000), by using command:
/Give cash Dwarf 150000000
Then exit character, delete it,go to you new junker, buy salvager and play from there.
If you dont have enough money for salvager, create another character:
/Restart:beginner
That will give you freigter, in Pensilvania system, buy full set of mining turrets for it and mining ID on Bethlehem station near planet Tyrone , 2 trade lines away from starting planer Erie (take trade line, then take right trade line),equip them both, and then start mining in center of nebula betwen Tyrone and Erie (raston ice field ,on sector F-3 on map) ,by shooting rocks with ONLY mining turrets activated.
Then sell helium you get on Erie.
Then repeat until you get cash you need, and transfer it to junker.
If you find large trasport in there, offer to mine helim for them, for a prise,1/5 to 1/3 of their profit is usual.
You can mine directy to cargo hold of other ships if you click on them with mouse click to select them, when you have miner ID.

I have a Freelancer ID'd Raba at 75% power core, using Junker Gunboat turrets.
Unless something changed since I last flew it like 2 days ago, you must have had something else mounted that gave you the full nerf.
Also, please note that Salvagers are entirely useless without a Junker ID, and that's the way it should always be, because according to their infocard,
they're built by Junker families, for their family, and never sold to outsiders. So it makes sense that it's useless without a Junker ID.
