So, we've all heard different opinions about whether or not sieges and POB construction require a comparable level of effort, and if the current mechanics is justifiable.
I offer a new approach that would make it a more level playground, introducing a feasible counterplay and consequences for the sieging party.
My proposition is ammo-based siege equipment, with ammo being produced/available only at POBs
I think having siege equipment is a good idea! - In another game i play it is DnD - we have ballistas etc that are available to fire if castles are attacked, and also movable siege equipment specifcially designed for sieging - I definitely think from what i have read so far that having a Siege based equipment specifically designed for Sieging bases is a good way to combat a lot of this issues i am reading!
With pobs still having platforms your proposition is awfully one sided. Now you can proceed with making 10 more pob whining threads instead of actually defending them.
Player base sieges already do depend on ammunition, the ammunition being ships that cost hundreds of millions of credits to set up and make competitive. This is plenty enough.

Point of ammunition is that it's consumable, and point of my suggestion is to level up the game and make siege and defense tactics overlap more.
Ships are permanent. Attackers could as well risk losing something actually killable.

Nah, once they have this ammunition they could go for a killing spree of bases without any losses to themselves. Enclave loses nothing when they siege next base after base.
That's not important though. I would prefer seeing Siege Gun which needs to be roleplayed as difficult as PoB levels and can be destroyed forever as PoBs during those sieges.

You enforce pob esque building gameplay on people who dont enjoy pobs. POBs are economy option working through ass plugin in space shooter game with rp elements.
One battleship/weapon can be applied for an unlimited number of sieges. Ammunition is expendable and needs constant recharge.
However, I worry that building troll core 1-s en masse might ruin this idea. The ammo will have to be costly, but troll core 1 POBs are very cheap to make (as far as I am informed, but admittedly I don't know much about POBs).

Actually not. Server rules are for roleplay. Mod is about space shooter.
