Either there's a sufficient lawful presence or a sufficient lack of unlawful presence, either way the bases in Gallia are doing just fine.

Hey Paddy,
My first ever build was Emlenton Storage & Exports, this was for Universal Shipping in 2012? When we could jump barges. (Them were the days) Our opportunity was trade marked as Universal Shipping to gain as the elite trading faction, thus we built a station to throw others and start a commercial war or such to buy and sell goods to and from Liberty as we could simply jump drive it out of there ores at the time was a great point to sell and buy and with Emlenton away from many NPC areas jumping a barge in that area was worthy.
After the server moved to adding new members of Discovery to Pennsylvania shortly after and removed the ability to move Barges. We stopped our commercial buy/selling and sort that the base was better handled by newcomers and to assist new people mining and selling Helium within Penn in a sort of "Safe haven" of our corporation along side Liberty forces. This was greatly approved by all sides of members of Disco as it is today. To help new people on the server, and with USI as we are, we'll even let new people join the faction to get them "Introduced" to Discovery.
The Player Operated Base allowed us to stay active, and thrive from the Disco Community from newcomers entering the faction to them leaving and entering others. It was a nice steady flow of players as it is today still used for the same purpose.
After 3 years of POB'ing i finally realised that is not my gig, is fun for some time, but then somehow people get fed up with it, or you stay alone in supply, gets boring with time, There is only so much you can advance a base and RP with it.
Anyway, not my cup of tea anymore, but kudos and respect to you guys who still have patience with POB'ing
Out of curiosity of someone who never had one what was the appeal of PoBs in the first place for you?
...
Wait, what? Who are you and what have you done to Paddy?
I love POBs as a means to make money, mine and store ore and as a secret hideout. A pain in the posterior to repair and maintain, even more so to build compartments, rewarding when the thing stands and people like them and even a bit sad when people who don't like them blow them up. Goodbye, Goldgeist.
