My twin sister Rio and I were born on Planet New Tokyo in 792 A.S. as the children of a Kusari Naval Forces Officer. Our family followed traditional roles, and we grew up with a normal childhood. My older brother who was born in 789 A.S. joined the KNF once he was old enough and continues to serve to this day. My father was killed during the war between Kusari and Bretonia, which resulted in use losing everything we owned. My brother stepped in and supported my mother and us during this time by allowing us to stay with his wife and family. Once Rio and I were old enough we convinced my mother and brother to permit us to attend New Tokyo University. I attended and graduated with a degree in Engineering, while Rio graduated with a degree in Interstellar Design. After graduation we sought employment, however we were quickly disillusioned in our dreams of successful careers and were instead assigned more menial tasks at businesses we worked at, with our respective degrees going to waste. My sister, bitter over our treatment by corporate pigs decided to strike out and be an independent trader on her own, while I stayed on working.
One day I received a call from my sister that she needed help as she was stranded on Planet Kurile in Sigma-17. I took part of my savings and hired a ship to take me there and bring me and my sister back to Planet New Tokyo. While returning from Planet Kurile to New Tokyo our ship was intercepted by the Outcasts and we were captured. While we were prisoners, they forced us to consume cardamine so they could control us and make it so we could not escape. I am not entirely sure how long we were with them, several years I think, however there came a point at which the Outcasts we were with were attacked by Corsairs and their ship was destroyed. In the process my sister Rio lost her life saving mine, and my escape pod was left adrift in space. Before she died, she had me swear an oath to continue fighting and live my life as fully as possible.
A passing Cryer ship discovered my pod and recognizing the cardamine withdrawal symptoms brought me to Atka Research Station. The Cryer scientists there saved my life and provided me with Stabiline to handle the symptoms. They informed me that there was no cure for cardamine addiction and the Stabiline would only help with the withdrawal.
Once I was able to function moderately well the staff at Atka provided me with some Stabiline supplies and a ship to get back to my mother and brother on Planet New Tokyo. They advised me to reach out to Cryer again once my supplies were getting low and they would allow me to purchase the necessary amount more, albeit in limited quantities.
I headed back to New Tokyo and contacted my mother and brother who had thought that both my sister and I were dead. However, on learning that I had a cardamine addiction I was disowned and cast out, as they considered it a grave dishonor that I would be addicted. They told me that I was no longer welcome near them or on Planet New Tokyo, as I put everyone’s lives and careers at risk and they gave me forty-eight hours to leave the planet or the would inform the Kusari Police of my presence and the illegal Stabiline in my possession.
I left Planet New Tokyo, having no family, no possessions or attachments, and a hatred for Outcasts and the cardamine addiction that they have inflicted on me. To honor my sister's desires and still pursue a meaningful life, I have taken up freelance trading in a ship named for my sister. I also plan to pursue changing the government and being a beacon of reform in the darkness of ignorance that is Kusari, albeit through legal routes if possible.
I currently have a flat on Planet Honshu, although I do not spend much time there as Kusari's official stance on Stabiline makes it difficult to maintain a normal life while having to break the law. I want to be a lawful productive citizen of Kusari, but the current laws make that difficult. My hope is that I can get an exemption for a limited quantity of Stabiline for personal use from the Kusari government until such time as a cure is found. In the interim I also have found a place among the Zoners of Pygar who have generously provided me with a home as my addiction makes me an undesirable or criminal in most houses of Sirius. Cryer also has a representative who regularly makes trips there as well that I have negotiated an agreement to supply me with the necessary Stabiline.
