Ah man, watching EVE hate wars and sheer toxic shi**ery from the outside is just so fun.

Can we stop referencing some obscure game nobody here actually cares about I'd say

I agree we should stop talking about Discovery Freelancer. After all, there's like what, three dozen people that actually care about that game (developers and GMs included) ... The rest are here just for the drama and s***posting.
People are way too invested in the game and their efforts over the years to give right of way to someone else's enjoyment of the game.
If you are a newcomer, it is within your best interests to enjoy the game as a supporting role or as a pleaser, because you will not survive ''against'' other more established players ambitions.
I am going to beat this drum again and again, but ever since people started RPing for a specific planned outcome and instead of RPing for the sake of RPing, aka - when people realized they stand to ''lose'' at roleplay, the whole thing went downhill.
Establish that player RP has no impact on the server lore and you will find tensions ease up a bit. But at the same time said invested people will drop off the radar.
Competitive RP server, RPVRP. You can't exactly have both.

What if I don't know if I have to ask, and I'm only asking because I may have to ask and want to be sure?

So you're in effect saying us new folks should just bend over and take it!! I don't think i'll be doing that i am creating an Empire! If it falls so be it if it succeeds i'll be happy but i am not gonna be a Pleaser, I don't play RP games to bend over and lose without effort and input! But i guess not everyone is like me! Maybe the older players should be a bit more compassionate to new folk to get them involved and immersed rather than tread them down? I've met many long time players i am a Noob and theres very very very limited few that are asshats in need of a stick removal surgery many will help and guide like they should driving players away from the game is not helping the server! If you are one of those down trodden folk that let everything get to you i say suck it up cause it's not gonna change! Just play your way and enjoy it no matter the challenges!
There should NEVER be a place for hate and discrimination or even cyber bullying

If it's spoken in Roleplay then it is defined as acceptable provided it doesn't attack the player behind the character / OOC and RP should always be kept seperate! I agree with the fact that i will hate on certain factions but never should it be taken as OORP cause thats the thin line right there! You may be in RP but the other may get "Butthurt" as i like to say it's then their issue if they raise ooc issues about it!
