There has been talk around Sirius about a new bomber balance hitting the market!
After the snac nerf, bombers seem to fill in the quite specific role of anti-cap support.
This is because as of right now they can't oppose fighters (except super heavy fighters) nor gunboats.
This limits these ships to be used either in wings of bombers (which sounds cool but doesnt happen that often) or paired up with a capital ship for the sole role to improve cap on cap combat for the side with the bomber.
My suggestion would be to bring back the snac 1-shot kills for smaller ships (not like I can hit them anyway or it registers the hit when I do), and increase the hellfire pods damage against gunboats & bigger ships
Even some anti-fighter class 4 codenames could do the job of giving bombers some anti-fighter measures!
Anyone have an idea of what the rebalance will aim to do? I couldn't find other post on the forum about this but I wouldn't be surprised if there is.
Or make torpedoes track better, cause it happens quite often that I fire a torp at a freaking armored transport and the torp just stands still or moves in a straight line instead of tracking, like what's the point then when an armored transport can soak direct torp hits like it's nothing anyway.
This mod had become increasingly catering towards cap whores and power traders.
Unless you are a super skilled fighter player like Wesker or Ends, fighter pvp is effed up.
Bombers have been stumped into oversized comatose fighters with broken guns that are barely functional, save for the Energy and EMP cannons which have a high skill curve, but once you get the hang of, they can actually do some damage.
But hey, now transports can take on combat vessels head on, or if not, survive long enough under torps and snacs and razors to make to a docking point
Bombers are in a terrible place. Not too many with forward facing 5 guns and i am forced to use a single bomber type with 75% power supply on a generic pirate ID.
Back turrets are useless and should be deleted or rebalanced to face forward. At least 5 forward guns give me a chance to fight HF and VHF. Snac should be instant kill on all snubs, i don't know why was this nerfed, it is the only way to have a semi defense on a bomber vs HF/VHF - that is if you get extremely lucky and connect a snac.
So:
Bombers: 4 forward facing guns (with some exceptions where there are 5), slow turn rate, low speed low accuracy guns
I realize it's rock/paper/scissor model but it is way too much..it's more like mountain vs scissor.
This is not balance, at least give 5/6 forward guns on bombers and snac insta kill, the class2 guns themselves have slow speed and terrible accuracy, the turn rate alone should be the all the difference you need.
Bomber rework is being worked on and seeing how great HF rework turned out, I have faith in their capabilities to make Bombers more fun to fly again without re-introduction of bad mechanics such as instakills.

Nepotu this is just an open discussion about the current bomber nerf and their future role on discovery.
