In a surprise comment made by the Bretonian Armed Forces last night, they claim that the captain of one of their most decorated and famous battleships is facing severe court martial for attempted murder in the first degree, and 5 counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
According to officials close to the investigation, Captain Mycroft Aldred of Battleship Sierra was woken during a routine patrol. He expected something major. However, when he got there, he found that his first officer had called him in order to arouse him of problems that were occurring with the core. Because Battleship Sierra had been sent to Southampton Shipyards due to severe core anomalies, the first officer, Edmund Brackenbury, thought that this was a necessary move. However, Captain Aldred, who had been asleep for more than 14 hours due to an unknown cause, was not happy.
When he entered the bridge, all officers stood to salute him, but he did not return it back. He instead pulled out his hand weapon, and shot First Officer Brackenbury five times in the chest. He aimed to fire more, but was shot by the ship's security officer.
Both Brackenbury and Aldred were taken to the ship's sickbay, but only Mycroft Aldred was able to be treated there, who had wounds to his left shoulder. He was then transfered to the Naval Hospital in Cambridge to undergo surgery in order to remove the bullet.
Brackenbury did not get off as easily. After being sent to the sickbay, it was determined that he would need extremely specialist care. After a long transfer, Brackenbury was flown to the Royal London Hospital in New London with severe wounds to the chest. After being stabilized, the bullets were removed, and the injuries were repaired to the best of ability by the staff.
"We expect a full recovery with minimal scarring," said the lead surgeon on the treatment.
Ian Challenor, Brackenbury's anesthetist, said that regardless of loss of blood and a severe airway problem, he was able to come out of it, and is now laying heavily sedated in the ICU. "I expect that he will come out feeling very lucky about surviving all of this," Challenor said.
Back on the militaristic front, it has been determined Captain Mycroft Aldred was stripped of all rank, and is now awaiting transfer to a jail in Cambridge for his court martial.
"Once he gets out of the sickbay, we will make sure that he never commits a crime like this again," said the lead prosecutor. Aldred's defense lawyer denied comment.
Additionally, the previous third in command will be in charge of Sierra for the time being, but given that Brackenbury is not expected to have any problems once released from the hospital, he will take over that position.
One of the crewmen last night stated that they were expecting this to happen for a long time. "He had a very dangerous temper, and I always did what I could to stay away from the captain. He was also constantly yelling at the bridge crew, and not the nicest person when it came to dealing with criminals and bounty hunters."
When asked why he was at that high of a rank like that, or why he was even in the military, we got minimal response. When the press finally got to the Admiral of the Bretonian Armed Forces, he denied comment.

***OOC*** Okay, so I decided to change my character on battleship Sierra. Some of you know him as being very much like this, and I decided it was time to change the character direction and be more mild and cunning. Also, I tried to keep it as close to a real news article as I could, thus covering plenty of points/fronts.
Retired A very big thanks to Dark Oddity who put my signature pic together
