[color=#33CC00]Rommie was a problem child from the beginning, she hated authority, but looked up to her older brother. After he went missing while working for Ageria Technologies, she was at a loose end. When she was old enough, she got a job there working on the many sophisticated systems and slowly learning that her brother wasn't the only person to just vanish without a trace. One day she met a group of disgruntled workers that were planning on stealing the network and lane codes and using them to cause grief to Ageria. Rommie decided to join them.
They headed for a small base in the Magellan system that was run by former employees of Ageria. Rommie got her hands on a old but sturdy bomber and started to earn a living via piracy, although she hated calling it that. Many trading vessels have been shot up by Rommie, but her real targets are the big three of Liberty, mainly Ageria.
Rommie became an isolationist and only cared for her own well being, except her brother. She also believes in natural selection and survival of the fittest. Rommie hopes that her brother is actually worth finding or whether she should forget about him and just wreak havoc on the trading industry.......
Rommie's Personal Logs
Today I set off towards New York and hoping to find a nice ambush point... Unfortunately my first real test of my combat skills came earlier than I would have liked. I approached Freeport 4 happy in the knowledge of the 5 click neutral zone, well the Sair's dont seem to obey that rule now do they, why a Sair is in Magellan is beyond me. Naturally we ended up in a dog fight, he was in a bomber also, but I knew mine was much more manoeuvrable than his.... After an intense couple of minutes I was starting to gain the upper hand until some merc decided to pick a side, much to my suprise it was not mine.... I knew I couldnt win with these odds as the merc was in a fighter, so I decided to flee the area with haste.
I managed to make a fair bit of money off the poor traders that happened to come my way, this lane hacking is alot of fun... FUN what am I saying, my life is at stake here, just hope I dont run into a Navy gunship or worse...............
I had another close call with a Xeno, was my own fault that we eventually ended up in combat against each other... He didnt take too kindly to me having Xeno slaves. I was no match for him at any rate as he was in a very fast fighter and I hardly managed to bring my guns to bare on him. He hit my engines and they went critical, I had no choice but to eject, he took me prisoner but, he was shocked to see I was a woman and decided to release me. A passing freelancer some hours later salvaged what was left of my ship and took me and the wreck back to Rochester............ These Junkers sure know their stuff, they have put my ship back together, well almost... Just waiting for a new shield generator and fuel injector to arrive then I can get back out there..................................
Man what a day, all the traders seem to be wiser to my usual ambush point. Guess I will have to do some hunting else where if I want to make a living. Im also running low on cardi, not seen a shipment going into New York for ages now.
I had the pleasure of meeting that darn Xeno again, I am clearly no match for him, lucky for me a fat doughnut eating copper arrived and distracted him while I quietly made my escape. Unfortunatly I went in the wrong direction as I ran into a Navy patrol, that dreaded A.I. Unit followed me all the way to Rochester.....
Naturally I rearmed myself before they got within the no fly zone. I decided to have a drink in the bar in the hope they would leave, but that A.I. was waiting for me.... I had no choice but to teach him a lesson. We were pretty evenly matched, but a few of my mines decided they liked Rogues better and I had them on me as well.
Just as I was going to make my retreat the A.I. looked like it had some sort of malfunction as it spiralled out of control, I had to leave quickly as my hull was buckling from the few precise shots the Navy A.I. scored on me, I managed to make it back to a safe haven in the badlands, don't know what happened to the A.I. though I'm sure we will cross paths again......
"Business" was booming again today, lots of luckless traders crossed my path. Made a fair bit too, was a pretty uneventful couple of days... Had a run in with an LSF agent, I had been hacking the lanes all day and wasn't in a position to defend myself so I left the area to rearm and refuel.
One trader gave me a bit of how shall we say "arrogance" I asked, erm demanded the usual toll for me to restore the lane and he thought it wasn't that big a price so he paid, that wasn't the problem though.... He said "I will pay as its more than worth the trouble of destroying me"......... hahaha I had my supernova cannon trained on him I would have wasted him to mere parts if his guns came as much to train on me.
Also had the pleasure of an open channel with some military woman, Isabella I think her name was, we even crossed paths.... I thought a dog fight was on the cards, but she made up some excuse that she doesn't get involved in space fighting... Well, since I pick my own fights I wasn't complaining.
I need to bribe them darn Rogue's too as they keep demanding cargo from me and we are supposed to be allies, ah well guess they don't know me.... yet.
Many Ion storms grounded my ship today, I was hoping I could intercept some hapless traders that are foolish enough to fly without an armed escort.
I encountered a trader coming from Texas, he would not cut his engines after repeated cruise missile hits. He left me no choice but to teach him a lesson on ignoring a pirate when they have an anti-matter cannon trained on you. Unfortunately he managed to escape my wrath by returning to Texas, his hull was badly damaged in the process, maybe he will learn to use his comms next time.
I was pretty angry at not getting what I wanted, another un-escorted vessel came my way. Lucky for her, she was more forthcoming and paid me a nice sum for not blowing her away.
Not seen many Navy or Police vessels lately, seems an Outcast and a few Xeno's were keeping them busy, you wont hear me complaining about that.
I also made a deal with the Rogues to stop demanding my essential supplies by "donating" 1 million credits to their cause, maybe now we can work together.... Who knows...
Things go from bad to worse sometimes, many traders today managed to avoid me by sheer luck on their part no doubt. I was on my back to Rochester, when my engines started to stall out a few times. Managed to get all the way to New York system but only just.
So there I was, I managed to get enough power to take the Manhattan trade lane towards Rochester, when the lane was down half way and a Rogue was there, he then told me to cut my engines or die..... I thought to myself I have brided you lot already, I was relieved when he realised we are on the same side.
I decided now would be a good time to make emergancy repairs to my engines, they have already taken a few shots from various do-gooders. I decided to help the Rogue in keeping the lane down by uploading a virus.
Shortly afterwards we were joined by an Outcast.... Never did or never will trust those guys, but he decided to join our little party.... A trader came our way and they moved in on him pretty fast, I was impressed by their efficiency. This is were my ship decided to have a anti-matter failure and it fired at the trader blowing him to pieces. He managed to eject, so I tractored him in and since he was never really my target I took him to Rochester once I got my engines fixed and helped him get a new ship, after all I would like to "get paid" sometime in the future off him..............
Finally....... managed to get hold of a ship that can hold its own against fighters. I was in the bar and had a bet on a card game with a guy that owned the gunship in the hanger... He lost naturally and I now have it.
Problem was it only had basic weaponry and took an age to take down enemy patrols. I managed to find a base thats well hidden near mactan, well only 1 jump away anyway. Needless to say they had some very sophisticated weapons in there.
I felt pretty good with myself when a commie came out of of nowhere and proceeded to run like a little dog when she seen what she was up against.
I decided it was time to go back to my lodgings in Rochester when who should be there at Freeport 4, yep it was the commie again. She was going to run again until I mentioned I dont fight in Freeport space. A freelancer was there too, and we all exchanged views on our "careers".
Ran into a Navy battlegroup on my way home and man can they pack a punch, I had to use every trick I knew to get away and stay alive....
I was hoping to test my new "toy" on some luckless trader to "donate" to my cause, but none were forthcoming. Another time perhaps?
I got a hold of a competent crew for my gunship from my travels on-board a Junker vessel that was heading for Malta. The AI was doing a very good job handling most of the systems but nothing matches human intuition and reasoning.
Ran into two LSF fighters today, there was no way they were going to take me down until a merc gunship entered the fray. I ordered the retreat to my pilot, but the cruise engines had failed due to mass impacts from cruise missiles. The enemy gunship did alot of damage to my ship, I had to eject my engines and make them explode. The result blinded their scanners and we managed to escape on momentum, a passing Junker transport towed us the rest of the way to make repairs.
Took along time to get a new engine installed, but once we were on our way we met a few wise traders and some not so wise, 1 tried to run and I had no choice but to open fire, I was going to kill him but decided to leave his ship crippled instead. Another trader decided to open fire at us, heck knows what he was thinking, dont know if he survived the explosion of his ship but who cares.........
Those damn Ageria, they made me lose out on some scratch today.... I had a trader cornered in Colorado when this fighter entered the fray, I was so distracted by the Ageria scum that the trader managed to get away unnoticed.
He tried to get me to go back working for Ageria and telling me the error of my ways... Error of my ways, I just had to laugh in his face, if only I could have seen it. He also made a false promise to find out information on my brother, I wont hold my breath on that one.
Didnt see much of the security forces today, I managed to get lots of greedy traders to part with their "hard earned" cash. That in turn paid for my new guns, boy are they effective in ripping up traders and the likes, I wouldnt like to be on the end of them.........
So there I was drinking my ale, staring into space as the small fleet of Junker ships slowly vanished into the distance. I was disturbed from my relax time by a man who stormed into the bar, he was covered in blood.
He was rather tall and muscular and had an eye patch on his right eye.
"Those damn Rogues will pay for what they did" He growled
I walked over to him and eyeballed him.
"What exactly will they pay for? Your bad taste in clothes or for you to get a shower"
"Who do you think you are little girl, I could snap you like a twig"
"hahaha hardly, before you even made a move you would be lying dead on the floor, so don't be a fool"
"Tell me... what exactly did my Rogue friends do to you that made you so... how shall we say? Stupid..."
I watched him closely as he started to mumble something incoherent.
"Speak up, I cant hear you"
"Well Missy, your "friends" jumped me and my crewman while we were unloading cardi, they shot my friend in the back and I managed to escape"
"So you just left him there to die?"
"Err...."
"I like your style, he wasn't worthy to live if he had his back to an open door.... Tell me are you any good at repairs?" I still needed an engineer and a gunner for my ship" The AI was starting to bug me to no end.
"I can keep my rust bucket flying so, I would say I'm pretty good" He said with a puzzled look.
"Perfect, it just so happens I need an engineer for my ship, I can do some repairs but, flying and managing the weapon systems is taxing at best, let me buy you a drink and we can discuss this properly, I'm Rommie btw"
"I go by the name of Jay, you got some guts squaring upto me, but you don't look like a Rogue"
"I am a Hacker as it happens, I used to work for Ageria but thats a long story to tell"
I hope he does crew for me, I need someone badly even if I have to shoot him later.........
Rommie and Jay finally managed to agree to terms so they walked back to her ship. He managed to fix the reoccurring engine problems that manifested itself at always the worse possible moments.
"The engine is sorted but as for your shield generator you will need a specialist for it" Jay said
"I could always buy a new one but that will set me back a fair bit" Rommie glared at Jay in the hopes he will at least try to fix the problem.
"I'll be in command, I need to contact someone" She walked off and Jay sighed, he decided to take a closer look at the shields but it actually was beyond his expertise.
"Captain on the deck" Said the helmsman
"Oh please....... This is a Hacker gunship not some Navy vessel. I know you are new to working for me but just call me skipper and no stupid formal stuff, got it?"
"Ss-sorry skip, I am ex Navy myself and just used to the drill."
Rommie sat down in the captain's chair. From here she can take control of helm, tactical and it had its own comm line. She hated the monotonous flying around but, preferred to take control in a combat situation.
Guess I will have to operate the weapons on a permanent basis since I cant find someone I can trust to operate the ship in a combat theatre Thought Rommie.
She opened a channel to someone who she met in the bar, he had what he needed to fix the shield generator.
"Come to hanger bay 5 and you can work with my engineer on my shields, then I will uphold my end of the bargin, Rommie out"
Lets hope this time the work is done properly or I will just shoot him in the head and get a new ship with his bounty Rommie chuckled to herself.
"Helm, fire up the engines, I wanna see if our new boy has done his job properly"
"Everything seems ok skipper, there is a slight phase imbalance on the starboard engine, but it won't cause any problems"
"Ok... shut everything down, you can take a break now... Go get a drink in the bar or something, I will contact you when we are ready to leave"
"Aye skip"
Rommie was alone now on the command deck, her ship had a crew of 5 (including herself) now with Jay joining the roster. Everyone but her and Jay were scattered around Rochester base taking much needed time away from Rommie's strict regime.
"Jay Im gonna take a nap, don't disturb me unless it's important, Rommie out"
She managed to get to sleep but it was a restless sleep at best, her thoughts dwelling on her brother and feeling a bit of remorse for some of the things she has done.... Well what's done is done she is a wanted criminal now and can't undo it all.................
