Do you have a SS of your Discovery Launcher on Game settings?
'I would like to be half as clever as some people like to believe they are' Life is full of disappointments, it is how we handle them that helps to define us, as a person
You need following the installation that was linked in this thread here. The game install is coming as an ISO file and you are just running that with no further action.
Then getting the Discovery installation from the same linked thread and install that in a directory that is not the same as your Freelancer installation.
You need starting the game with the new Launcher.
I was hearing that with Windows 7 you are needing making an exception for the Launcher and Discovery .exe in your antivirus.
Really just follow this here, I'm linking it again, though it was already shared here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...tid=126999
That thread is having a spoiler which is hiding the written down guide for the installation process.
Also there a two locations which you need to point when you install the mod. The one is by default, the other location you need to give to the installation process is the path to your freelancer exe folder

Did all of the above. antivirus was already off. Install worked fine. Here is a screenie of the running launcher, with the account it generated from the registry.
I can run disco and when I go into multiplayer, it shows the server with an ip of 95.217.88.9. When I try to connect to that server, it says that the operation is taking longer that expected, then I get the "invalid account name or password" message.
Is there a way to ping the server outside of Disco, to check the connection? I know sod all about networking.
Cheers.
[EDIT]
Went into dos and pinged the server. 4 packets sent, 4 received. 0% loss, 44ms ping time.
