Was a fun race I must say, liked how the ships got a speed boost. Maybe next time a race without gates and lanes with a more complex route. Anyway was fun evening.
That was cool, thanks https://imgur.com/a/bqQEqGf

Kind of sucks that there were practically no opportunities to catch up to people, sans them screwing up, getting unlucky with NPC pirates (big yikes for those two) or you cutting them off with slowdocks. Just the one cruise through Tau-23. A route going through more open space would also give people more opportunities for some CD play, I feel.
Fun concept overall, though.
Also props to Swoop for always being there with me.

We've done the same light fighter race event in 46th about a month or two ago as you know (Remember I whined in [R] that one of the players wouldn't let us gather at start)
1) longer cruise times to allow for CD
- we allowed it just on the return stretch, so people go after the leaders and don't just go mental at start
2) like in star wars pod racing you can have server active besides the start/gather point and people slowing down racers (besides the start)
- You can have hilarious situations like backroom negotiations with 3rd parties, asking to slow someone down - usually the leader
- I know this can be abused, maybe have a couple dedicated players or GMs do this unbiased so it adds spice and slows down leading ships.
Can be even random changes to the map like moving a JH/JG temporarily so people have to find it mod race
3) more alternative routes
- There was just the 23 way, more possible side turns with JHS would be great, especially if both are valid travel time wise. Also waypointable routes not being fastest give advantage to people that prepare
Great event, lots of fun - thank you for organising it. @Squad. Can't wait for the April Fool's one
