Mountbatten pulled a small, exquisite looking chest from her suitcase. Inside were three ceremonial laser pens. She took one and told a clerk to distribute the other two to the Kusari and Crayter representatives. The clerk gave one to Crayter first, but only because their representatives were seated closer at the time. "After you have etched your names here with them, they are yours. Let's get done with this, I want to try the champagne. It's Orleans 739 AGS. A spoil of war."
Mountbatten wrote her name under the document first:
"At this moment, on the 11th of May 828 AS, in the name of Queen Carina I, I proclaim this treaty as valid", said Mountbatten solemnly. "I will have the servants bring lunch and and a fitting amount of drinks right away."
