The personal diary of Professor Samuel Collins.
A former scientist from the Kingdom of Bretonia who became a radical affiliate of the Gaians - the opposers of terraforming, uncontrolled industrialisation and aggressive exploitation of natural resources -.

People usually don't do "Entry 0." when doing their diary but it's better to make things clear before jumping into all the mess this universe is giving us. So here I will explain what you ever come across this log of mine.
Born on 02/04/785 onboard a "Shire"-class container transport of the Bowex. Both parents worked for the company at the time but I was not interested in this line of work even though I didn't have to spend much time around it.
I spent my childhood and my early adult life on Planet New London and studied hard to break out of the career my parents wanted me to do.
When I had to make a decision where to steer myself on the ocean of life my determination was great towards helping other people so I applied to a medical lecture. It was at the time when my mother died (06/11/811) and my father applied for a new job at Planetform Inc.
I visited him at work a few times but my disgust grew against their activities... In my whole life, I loved nature and wanted to find a way of preserving it for the future generation.
In 817my father died in a workplace accident during the construction of terraforming equipment.
I accepted work in a military hospital on Planet New London after finishing my medical lecture and lived a weirdly comfortable but unhappy life as I observed the constant extortion of nature in the favor of big companies.
The year 820 was the first time I heard about Gaians and somehow I got in touch with sympathisers of the cause. At first, I was scared to get involved in any illegal activities so I didn't openly admit my good opinion of them.
In the same year, I finally started doing my medical degree which I finished relatively early thanks to my good results and experience.
In 824 was the biggest turning point in my life yet when I received information about Gaians occupying Kirkwall Base in Orkney. My informants asked me to join them because there are many wounded who are in urgent need of a surgeon. I didn't hesitate, not even for a second to board their ship.
After the work was done on Kirkwall Base I received the information that I'm considered to be a "criminal" under the Laws of Bretonia because an agent spotted me boarding the Gaians' ship. There was no turning back, my new life began in that exact second.
"Prof." Samuel Collins
Here we are today, memories of my previous life are still very vivid, it was just 4 years ago but already made much progress. I tended countless wounds and saved countless lives so we can continue our fight for Gaia and for a better world. That's why people started calling me "Professor", it's not an official title but I'm proud to use it since it was given by the people I fight and live for. Frontline work didn't come until this year when I finished my training on piloting fighter and bomber vessels and commanding light capital ships.
A "Caliburn"-class destroyer, was commissioned to me so I can replace its former captain. The ship went through various upgrades and received many new parts, still several parts in urgent need of replacement.
I requested to equip it with a cloaking device so my work can be done more effectively without endangering a valuable Gaian asset.
I received an order to station permanently on Torshavn Space Port therefore my base of operation is now decided.
The newly commissioned destroyer "Rebirth" arriving to Torshavn
My task is to patrol the vicinity of our bases and to gather information about the activities of our foes.
My personal goal is to gather allies for our cause and harass corporations in a way they start using less aggressive ways to exploit natural resources but at the same time, I don't have to necessarily use lethal force to achieve these goals.
When not in the wast space I continue working in my previous profession of being a surgeon who helps our fighters.
Let our deeds speak for us and the cause will be stronger and more promising than ever.

Such an interesting day...
I've heard rumours about our relations with the Corsair Empire isn't as great as it used to be.
That's why I decided to board the Rebirth several hours earlier than the original plans so we can pay a visit to our old friends in the Omicrons.
The Rebirth
As soon as the flight plan was ready we took off from Torshavn Space Port and made our way to Omega-3 using the jump hole in the sector F2. The decision was made because local authorities are patrolling the main commercial routes very frequently and we didn't have time to waste.
As the Rebirth made its way from Cambridge jump hole to our next jump hole we paid a short visit to the Cruiser Greifswald before entering Omega-5. The crude atmosphere of Cadiz Base was magical as usual when we replenished our stocks there and after two hours of rest we took off once again to make our way into Omega-41.
The neutron star in this system radiates like not many other things in our universe so we took the long way around it to reach the jump hole to Omicron Gamma.
Since I didn't visit the system in the last 10 years, also never piloted my own ship into the system I was surprised at first.
As the last jump hole took us into the Gredos Cloud I really had to concentrate not to smash the Rebirth into the lava asteroids. We arrived at sector E5 and to our pleasant surprise, there were two Taurus capital ships - CNS-Naxos and CNS-Barbaros commanded by warship captains Kolkan and Mehmet - stationed next to Crete.
I was greatly pleased to notice that our friendship didn't die in general because they both greeted me and my crew as their brethren. After a considerably long conversation and sharing thoughts about the current situations throughout Sirius, they had a distress call from another system so we had to say bye to them.
The Rebirth suffered a shield capacitor failure while charging the cruise engines so we had to dock on Rhodes Shipyard for a quick repair before making our way back to Bretonia.
As a side note, I really hope our friendship with the corsairs can be much much deeper and we can have a mutually beneficial way of coexisting. I think in the near future I will have to speak more with them just to know about their intentions with Gaia.

The considerably professional crew of the Rhodes Shipyard gave us new shield capacitors and in return, I repaired some malfunctioning life support systems for their medical crew.
After they finished the assembly of our new capacitors we started planning our route back to Bretonia.
We took off from Rhodes Shipyard and started our journey back to Torshavn Space Port but on a different route to avoid any lurking threats.
The Rebirthentered the Omega-41 jump hole, engaged the cloaking device and rushed its way around the neutron star to enter Omega-49 as soon as possible.
We knew as soon as we leave Omega-41 we don't need to worry much about hostile ships in our tracks. Next to Gran Canaria, we sighted a ship which was most possibly a gunboat of the Bounty Hunters so we engaged the cloaking device once again and sailed past her while maintaining complete radio silence.
As the Rebirth left the estimated sensor range of the gunboat we decloaked and jumped into Dublin where we started a scouting mission that would take us through the New London system and then our final destination Torshavn Space Port in Cambridge.
It was weird not to see any authorities or logistics of Bretonia except a small B-27-E carrying scientists and food rations.
The crew also sighted a large transport ship in the distance which seemed to be a Kusari logistics vessel so we didn't bother with further identification. We landed on Torshavn and the crew occupied their quarters to take a nap and rest after this exhausting day.
The crew and the ship may be resting but I can't... I need to write our plans for the following day and arrange accommodation and supplies for us. Anyways... I should also take a nap and then finish this entry.

It's sometimes exhausting to be a protector of Gaia but the fact that we are on the right path to preserve civilisation is keeping the soul in all Gaians. Tomorrow I will reach out to potential allies and continue my mission with the Rebirth.
Also this new branch of the Corsair Empire... Named Taurus... They seem to be valuable allies and good friends for Gaia. I hope I meet them again in the near future.
...E N C R Y P T E D F I L E T E R M I N A T E D...
The first half of this day wasn't that eventful, the combined number of ships I met is four and out of that only two were somewhat useful.
This morning we took off from Torshavn Space Port in Cambridge and headed to New London to observe the commercial traffic in the system.
We noticed several ships and affiliates of Bretonia Mining and Manufacturing heading to Dublin so after the rest of the traffic cleared out we visited the system to see what they are doing.

The Rebirth on it's way to Dublin
Upon entering the system we immediately spotted one of their vessels in sensor range, the BMF|Bellepheron but it left the vicinity as soon as they noticed our presence. Two other ships were spotted in the nearby mining field extracting large amounts of gold, namely [PI]~Lourens a transport ship and Mike Walcott piloting the mining vessel.
Latter named person behaved very disrespectfully even though I was speaking to them respectfully and explained to them the reason for my visit...
After several minutes of conversation, they donated a sum of 10 million credits to support the cause of Gaia.
Therefore I peacefully left the vicinity and took the course back to Torshavn through New London.
The Rebirth left using the cloaking device so authorities can't track our movement.
In NewLondon, the only ship I met was a transport from Kusari named Akira. Seemed to be really friendly but wasn't a big conversational partner so we proceeded to our destination and resupplied the Rebirth there.
Readout from the Rebirth's data storage
I feel an urgent need to look for allies since there are so many foes all around these territories and we are few.
I hope I can reach out today to the Elders of the Corsair Empire to make sure they know about my intentions and maybe they are willing to help.
...E N C R Y P T E D F I L E T E R M I N A T E D...
I said the first half of the day wasn't eventful... Well tell it to the second half I guess...
With the crew, we decided to check out northern parts of Bretonia so we sailed up all the way to Cortez where we managed to cloak just in time to avoid confrontation with the HMS-Tiger battlecruiser of the Bretonian Armed Forces. Several minutes later, on our way back to New London we ran into the HMS-Ayr cruiser from the same military branch as the HMS-Tiger.
Naturally, the cloaking device kneeled down in the worst minute so we had to face a significantly stronger design in hostile territory with their reinforcements already on their way.
The HMS-Tiger arrived on the scene almost immediately and an interesting conversation occurred where they wanted to convince me that we Gaians are simple murderers and when we shed blood it's not justified at all. They even think that if they shed their enemies' blood it's completely rightful and justified... Interesting worldview not going to lie...
Quote:[08.05.2021 13:46:59] Rebirth: S: Greetings, captain
[08.05.2021 13:47:04] BAF|HMS-Ayr: Good afternoon, Gaian.
[08.05.2021 13:47:15] Rebirth: S: Naturally the cloak gives up when it's the worst time *grins*
[08.05.2021 13:47:35] BAF|HMS-Ayr: It is quite the contrary to a bad time, I believe.
[08.05.2021 13:47:39] BAF|HMS-Ayr: But my opinion is my own.
[08.05.2021 13:47:51] Rebirth: S: Well yeah... I mean... It's fate isn't it...
[08.05.2021 13:48:02] BAF|HMS-Ayr: So it would seem.
[08.05.2021 13:48:11] BAF|A-HMS-Tiger: Anna: Good afternoon.
[08.05.2021 13:48:13] BAF|HMS-Ayr: Though fate does not appear to favour you much today.
[08.05.2021 13:48:23] Rebirth: S: Good afternoon
[08.05.2021 13:48:36] BAF|HMS-Ayr: It does favour my gunnery crew, I suppose. They could use some practice today.
[08.05.2021 13:48:48] Rebirth: S: Well... Before we start anything...
[08.05.2021 13:48:58] Rebirth: S: I think proper foes should intorudce before fights...
[08.05.2021 13:49:21] Rebirth: S: khm... introduce... my apologies
[08.05.2021 13:49:24] BAF|HMS-Ayr: Go ahead, if you're feeling it.
[08.05.2021 13:49:55] Rebirth: S: I'm Samuel Collins, formerly a regular Bretonian like yourself... But I opened my eyes
[08.05.2021 13:50:13] BAF|HMS-Ayr: Spare me the eye-opening *****.
[08.05.2021 13:50:33] Rebirth: S: *laughs* You are ignorant...
[08.05.2021 13:50:43] BAF|A-HMS-Tiger: Anna: Terrorism is never a good way how to solve problems, mr. Collins.
[08.05.2021 13:50:45] BAF|HMS-Ayr: Whatever helps you sleep at night, Gaian.
[08.05.2021 13:51:03] Rebirth: S: But you shall not be ignorant when your worlds will suffer from your mistakes
[08.05.2021 13:51:22] Rebirth: S: Calling us simple terrorists seems lazy
[08.05.2021 13:51:23] BAF|HMS-Ayr: Murder is never the solution to a problem.
[08.05.2021 13:51:31] BAF|HMS-Ayr: All that makes you is the bigger problem.
[08.05.2021 13:51:31] Rebirth: S: Did you see me murder anyone?
[08.05.2021 13:51:40] BAF|HMS-Ayr: I see your movement murdering people.
[08.05.2021 13:51:58] Rebirth: S: Like I see your armed forces murdering people as well *laughs*
[08.05.2021 13:51:59] BAF|A-HMS-Tiger: Anna: Many of your colleagues murder people, innocent people.
[08.05.2021 13:52:28] BAF|HMS-Ayr: The people we are tasked with killing have earned themselves that fate, one way or the other.
[08.05.2021 13:52:53] Rebirth: S: I value life, that's why I didn't blow up those four BMM ships previously this day
[08.05.2021 13:53:16] BAF|HMS-Ayr: You value life and affiliate yourself with a terrorist movement. It is hypocrisy of the highest order.
[08.05.2021 13:53:27] Rebirth: S: Sometimes words don't work
[08.05.2021 13:53:35] BAF|A-HMS-Tiger: Anna: Why don't you live life of Freelancer, solving issues without act of terrorism?
[08.05.2021 13:53:38] BAF|HMS-Ayr: That's not an excuse, and you know that.
[08.05.2021 13:53:52] BAF|HMS-Ayr: You're just trying to justify bloodshed for the sake of bloodshed.
[08.05.2021 13:54:05] Rebirth: S: I will go now, so you see we are not mindless killers, just defenders of nature *winks*
[08.05.2021 13:54:25] BAF|HMS-Ayr: I do not believe you will be headed anywhere, Gaian.
[08.05.2021 13:54:30] BAF|HMS-Ayr: Except, perhaps, the hospitality of Newgate.
[08.05.2021 13:54:53] Rebirth: S: If you hold me back and make me resort to violence that values you not my movement
[08.05.2021 13:55:08] BAF|HMS-Ayr: What an excuse.
[08.05.2021 13:55:15] Rebirth: S: Just a fact *winks*
[08.05.2021 13:55:19] BAF|HMS-Ayr: You are a terrorist, a murderer, in command of a warship.
[08.05.2021 13:55:27] BAF|HMS-Ayr: You do not get to excuse yourself in any shape or form.
[08.05.2021 13:55:39] BAF|HMS-Ayr: Gunnery, fire to destroy. We'll collect the debris later.
[08.05.2021 13:55:41] Gateway|-GSV-Alexter: Greetings
[08.05.2021 13:55:44] Rebirth: S: Excuse... Like your excuses to murder your foes, no?
[08.05.2021 13:55:46] BAF|A-HMS-Tiger: Anna: Good afternoon, Alexter. Be careful.
[08.05.2021 13:55:52] Rebirth: S: Okay, you don't give other chances
[08.05.2021 13:55:56] Rebirth: S: Gunners fire
[08.05.2021 13:57:58] BAF|A-HMS-Tiger: Anna: See, gunners? Watch and learn.
Since I couldn't manage to convince them of my truth it came down to our guns to decide.
They gave a mostly fair fight because the battlecruiser stayed on reserve while I had the opportunity to engage in a deadly dance with their cruiser.
Our armour didn't hold up long against their more durable cruiser so after 10 minutes of trading hits, we suffered heavy damage to the hull and had to withdraw to the Skye Base in Newcastle to patch up the Rebirth and to tend to our wounded.
Rebirth facing the HMS-Ayr
That captain was a formidable and dangerous opponent, it's lucky we managed to withdraw in time. I will have to get some escort vessels next time I venture into the hands of BAF...
The crew worked hard on restoring the Rebirth's previous form while I myself received a surprising but very pleasing answer to one of my previous calls. In that call, I reached out to a respected Corsair Elder Pepe Ladron and DISCUSSED our relations in detail. He gave me a task so he had put some faith in me and the cause I fight for. I was given a task in which I will have to hunt down one of their foes, this way I may be able to earn the trust of Senor Ladron and receive more tasks or even get powerful allies.
After we got all our systems into operating order again we took off and sailed through Bretonia while being cloaked and maintaining radio silence because the Rebirth wasn't in perfect form yet, risking another fight would've ended horribly.
The Rebirth on it's way to Tirpoli Shipyard, Omicron Gamma
We took one of our previous routes to Omicron Gamma to get proper repairs at Tripoli Shipyard.
We also received a briefing about the person we will have to hunt down.
Hunt down for sure but not today... It was too long already, the crew is very exhausted as well as me.
The Rebirth stays in Corsair territory for the rest of this day.
