Quote:and their "abuse" isn't really an issue at the moment
The very fact of Coalition existing in Sirius abuses good taste.
I'm in two minds about this because on one hand making non-human IDs more widely usable will remove the "snowflake" aspect of it and might push good RPers to stop wasting their potential on non-human factions, on the other hand though it means more people will be playing them.
Also, I have a bell ringing in the back of my head that Wild Pawn ID was only made for one combat event (something involving Embrun?) and was going to be removed after it and it was either forgotten or chosen to be retained, but I might be wrong about that. Perhaps just removing it should be considered, though.

I am not even arguing about whether or not they should be usable and whether that will affect the current RP standards, because the choice has already been made - there's an independent nomad ID with BS access already. Not sure why people seem to not even take that into consideration.

Because Nomads are not capable of proper roleplay. They cannot roleplay a person, pretend to be someone, stir things up. Completely different thing from the Wild

That doesn't seem to be the reason, simply because this debate goes back to 2010 at least (likely before that too). The nomad id has always been the poster child for "we can't allow le evil indie lolwuts to play as nomads because they'll just terrorise everyone without RPing at all" and the choice about that has already been made. And also a wild might be easier to roleplay because it stil has a human side to it and can pretend to be a human if it wants to be undercover (which this ID infocard tries to limit). Hell, most OFs you'd encounter nowadays just do /l1 /l2 90% of the time. /3 as well if they are feeling creative.

Yes they can. It's called telepathy. What's to stop them of making illusions of fake people for mimicry? Just because it is a different form of roleplay, does not invalidate it. There is no such thing as "proper" just because you are playing a different medium.

Pawn ID doesn't have to be undercover, it's an open terrorist ID but you still don't have to speak asteriskese since you have a mouth to speak. That's partially the beauty of it, RP-wise.
Also, for the love of God... no House military tech cells, talking to any dev who will actually bother to listen to the feedback here.

I don't even have a horse in this race, just seems ridiculous how pretty much everything that was closed off in the past has been opened up by now, yet people are still clinging to this "nooo our super high standards of RP will be ruined" fantasy from 10+ years ago.

Nobody would give half a rat's butt about the standards of roleplay after giving a cursory glance at Stories and Biographies, it's merely a matter of balance.
IDs that can do everything are overpowered and overpowered IDs attract people to the detriment of every other faction.
Giving civilian, unlawful and lawful tech to an ID with a massive ZoI that can shoot EVERYONE is going to attract everyone to that kind of ID... and it's going to leave nothing to shoot for the people who have it.

Let's be pragmatic.
Also, 300th post.
Yay me.
That's the thing, there already are IDs that can do basically the same things while having access to caps up to BSs. Nobody is asking to give wild pawns the same tech as Aoi, but at this moment they have fewer options than even freelancers (which are supposed to have limited tech because they have more freedom).
Yeah I mean that's my point, give them more options, just keep them away from military stuff. Some posts ago I made the point that Wild and Pawn IDs should complement each other one in some way.
Gameplay-wise, Wild for infiltration in military ships, Pawn for open terrorism in civilian, BW and some unlawful and paralawful ship lines which need to be added to make this thing viable.
RP-wise, Wild from a lawful background, Pawn coming from nowhere or almost.
They'd be two different approaches to play someone with a snake in his spine, one not necessarily lesser than the other.
The way the Pawn ID is conceived now is to give people a stepping stone to the Wild ID but (understandably) nobody cared because of how ill-fit it is for the task, you can't, say, infect a Miltary character and then give him civvie or BW stuff until Aoi accepts the application, people just skipped this step.
An approach like this would allow it to exist independently of the Wild ID without merely being a crap version of it to be disposed of at the first chance.
One could even come up with official factions that work distinctly from Aoi, though this might be a stretch considering how Nomads work. Still, it's an option I'm planting here.
