Due to the changing political situation within Rheinland, and, as a result of the unfavourable conclusion of the Civil War in Rheinland with the formation of a joint government between the Federalist and Imperial forces, the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom of Bretonia are hereby formalizing Operation 'Von Albrecht', with the main goal of the contingency plan represented by a desire and interest in restoring the present Kaiser of Rheinland to the throne should the Federalist movement and its supporters attempt to depose or otherwise remove the Imperial Family.
Secondary goals of the operation involve the seizure of all facilities and trade lane infrastructure within the systems of Omega-7, Stuttgart and the Western and Southern regions of the New Berlin system, as well as maintaining temporary control over planetary bodies, most notably the planets Stuttgart and New Berlin, with possible control over Baden Baden.
The invasion will be commenced by a minimum 2 (two) Great Fleets positioned within the Nottingham (further: Omega-3) system, acting under the guise of patrolling against Corsair incursions. Follow-up phases involve a direct invasion into Core Rheinland Space and the subsequent destruction of the mainstay of the Rheinland Military forces that side with the central government, or otherwise declare support for the Federalist movement.
Plans of invasion
The plans of invasion & planned offensives are split into 4 (four) main parts, as below:
Deployment of the 10th Great Fleet (further: Battleship Macduff) to the Cambridge system;
Deployment of the 7th Great Fleet (further: Battleship Somerset), the 11th Great Fleet (further: Battleship Harlow) and the 5th Great Fleet (further: Battleship Norfolk) to Omega-3;
Initiation of the invasion and the seizure of Omega-7 border facilities and installations; Establishment of a safe zone around Stuttgart Jump Gate;
Invasion of the Stuttgart system and seizure of Planet Stuttgart and other facilities; Removing any resistance from government forces or Federalist forces;
Invasion of the New Berlin system and seizure of Planet New Berlin
Note: Map previews have not been added due to pending review by the Admiralty Board.
Units Involved & Allies
The Battleship Somerset will lead the invasion force, supported by the Harlow and Norfolk. All fleets are to immediately seize control over strategic assets within Omega-7, following which the Norfolk will be stationed in a defensive position adjacent to the Elbe Border Fortress. Battleships Somerset and Harlow will continue into the Stuttgart system, with priority given to the capture of Planet Stuttgart and important assets within the sector. Secondary priority is given to securing Planet Baden Baden, the entry to the Cologne system, the entry to the Omega-11 system and the Planet Stuttgart <--> New Berlin trade lane infrastructure.
Following the capture of Planet Stuttgart, Battleship Harlow is to station in orbit, with a Crecy flotilla sent to Baden Baden orbit. Battleship Somerset will only proceed further into the New Berlin system after Imperialist units arrive at the Jump Gate; Offensive to be postponed should supplies not be sufficient for a planetary assault.
Expected support from the Rheinland Military is represented by the Battleship Kolleda within the New Berlin system, Battleship Westfalen within the Stuttgart system, Battleship Schwerin within the Frankfurt system, Battleship Altenburg within the Cologne system and Carrier Soltau within the Hamburg system. Similarly to the Civil War, Battleship Bayern may attempt to side with the Federalist movement and engage the Battleship Schwerin within Frankfurt proper. The Battleship Strausberg cannot be relied upon for assistance due to the importance of maintaining control over the New Berlin Jump Gate within the Dresden system.
Outcome & Follow-Up Operations
The result of the operation will be the the reinstatement of Kaiser Hans Edvard Von Albrecht-Friedmann to the Imperial Throne of Rheinland and the establishment of a secure buffer-zone between the Kingdom of Bretonia and the Empire of Rheinland, with military units of both sides taking part in joint patrols of the Omega systems after the conclusion of the invasion, to prevent any attempts to further destabilize Rheinland.
The Royal Bretonian Navy will maintain a direct presence in Rheinland space for a total of 3 (three) months after the conclusion of the invasion for peacekeeping purposes and to provide training through military exercises to the remainder of the Rheinland Military. After the passing of a total of 3 (three) months following the successful completion of Operation 'Von Albrecht', all Royal Navy units will return to the Kingdom, with only a small officer detachment remaining on Planet New Berlin for training purposes in coordination with the Rheinland Military.
Following review and submission of amendments to Operation 'Von Albrecht' by Commodore John Khatri, the contingency plan has been adjusted accordingly.
