after many, many years I've had some interest in Freelancer since the past week again, and by chance stumbled upon this mod via Youtube.
I was at first hesitant to engage in playing again (online) since I know the game, at least lorewise, very well (and even standard multiplayer has not that much to offer me in that regard), but after seeing this mod I'm somewhat curious and motivated again.
Y'all seem nice, so I thought of why not joining the forum.
I'm very open to RPing, having played J/W-RPGs since I was a little kid and in the last years looked into some D&D; I've also read a lot of fantasy-books and fanfiction.
What always fascinated me about Freelancer was the lore and deep worldbuilding, and I'm excited to see what this mod and commnity have built over more than a decade.
I've already tried to get everything up and running the past days, and I'm pleased to see that it's somewhat working AFAICT, but I might go into details about this later.
Regarding roleplay, I have already thought of a rough sketch for a character, but still feel a little bit overwhelmed by the RPing and also technical/server-side of the rules. I hope you guys can help me get accustomed.
Hm, guess this text turned out longer and more detailed than I had planned.
I hope to have fun RPing here in the forum and on the server.
Hey, welcome, glad to see you join here! You should definitely join the Discord if you haven't already and ask away if you need anything. Hope you enjoy your stay and find something pleasant to do

If you will be looking for a business one day, which you will , Then check NSE at Planet Cambridge, or/and the discord link below this post
Have fun and see ya in the dark, scary, wealthy space xD
Welcome! Can personally testify that AWES and Xenon's NSE shop near Cambridge are great places to earn some scratch. Great for a starting point as well as a long term partner.

Indeed Discovery Discord is the right place to ask questions, find some action or just chat with like minded folk about the game.
Yes, Server Rules are very important, definitely find the time to read them. But as long as you are not acting like a d*ck, you don't need to worry.
You seem to have solid RP background, so that shouldn't be an issue either. You will start as a freelancer, which means you can start roleplaying as yourself in space and expand from there.
Whether it is Server rules or RP, players you will encounter will generally tell you if you are doing something wrong and offer advice.
I will give you one right now:
If you see someone writing in-game putting // before what they are writing, this indicates, that what they are saying is ooRP (out of character). It is the player speaking, not their character they are roleplaying.
If you have not ironed out the technical issues yet, feel free to PM me here or on discord (ronillon or GalaxyA40) and we will sort it out.
