I'm interested in the exact use flow from purchasing one with SciData.
It takes2 steps to place one, right? One request to buy the Inhibitor from SciData, another one to place it.
- How much time does it usually take to place from when the requestto place it is made? It would be nice to actually see it before it gets destroyed.
I'm also interested in fine details like
- How far is a hostile inhibitor spotted?
- How many HP does it have exactly?
- Is the range exactly 10k?
- How frequent is the cruise disrupting interval?
- Does it stop charging cloaks and jump drives as a normal cruise disruptor missile does?
- Basically anything else not covered in this thread: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...tid=148452
About requests, it depends on your luck. Mine took around 5 days? You can also put a request that is both the creation and deployment of the inhibitor. it'll be much faster this way.
1) how far you can detect the inhibitor depends on your scanner.
2) about 72 million hull. no shield
3) While in the game files it says the range is 10k, the actual range varies from 3k-6k radius.
4) 1 burst every 5 or so seconds.
5) I believe it functions exactly as a cruise disruptor missile. I bet it does.
It'll be annihilated instantly if it isn't protected by a PoB's weapon platforms.
1) Detection range depends on the scanner? Is it deployed as an npc not a structure like a PoB?
2) Range is 3-6k - do you know what it depends on? Or it's in fact consistent it was just never measured precisely?
I can attempt to provide some insight based on my own experiences with (being shot by) the platforms, so the information might not be 100% accurate.
1) The platform is deployed akin to a base or PoB. It will show up when you are in range of it (for some of the recent events, I noticed it around 9k out with a 15k scanner, but the odds are that it showed up at 15k itself and was just hidden under all the other contacts.)
2) The platform itself is a bit strange in operation. From what I have experienced, it fires a single fast-moving, undodgeable, and invisible (but still targetable) CD that does not show up as a missile for the warning sound, and it cannot be evaded with CMs. As such, the effective range at which it starts firing these phantom CDs is (maybe) 6 kilometers out, but if it fires while you are within 6km, it can follow you out, as I have been hit 7k from the platform before, but only when 'leaving' the area. As mentioned, it fires these CDs at a reasonable rate, but the long (in terms of CD firing speeds) firing time makes gauging when it decides to disrupt the target feel inconsistent.
In short, they can be a nuisance for a rather critical area, including (but not limited to) areas with high-strength NPCs, major tradelane junctions, House Capital areas, and so forth. While the range isn't the best, it does provide a cruise disruption 100% of the time. I have yet to see someone escape one. As mentioned, if they're somewhere popular and relatively unprotected, the chances that it is turned into explosion sprites is rather high.
A quick edit: I dug into FLStat to double-check the stats for itself, and the [event_inhibitor] "CD" (not a CD/Missile at all, but instead a dumbfire missile that has the CD effect) does have 5000 speed, 10000 detonation range, and 10000 seeker range, but why it does not engage from 10k itself is unknown to me. I would go in-game and get shot at by the platforms I am aware of to test the exact distances, but it is 1AM and I would prefer I not do that.
Edit 2 Editorial Boogaloo: [event_inhibitor_dummy] is a "gun" that has 10 second refire, 5k range, and 800 speed, according to FLStat. I am uncertain on if the inhibitor platform uses the inhibitor or inhibitor_dummy, but my credits would be on the latter, or else it would be engaging me not only from further out, but with a projectile so fast I wouldn't be able to target it AND make sense of what I was looking at, before it hit me.
Inferno, thank you for the digging you did for me!
About the range it's also possible the platform has its own detection range and even though the weapon has a range of 10k the platofrm's scanner only sees as far as 6k. Just a theory though.
I don't know how much importance yours will have (aka placement), and I also don't want to make you not use it, but the disruptor can be freely attacked by anyone hostile at any time without a prior declaration, thus I recommend to take this into consideration once you place it somewhere.

I know about that, thank you . It's not too expensive to be disposable and is worth some playing around.
