If we are going in the direction of POBs REQUIRING multiple people to operate and maintain, doing so in one or two patch updates with little warning will not be good to the POB population. Culture change takes time. Let it take the time that it needs so that people are not confronted with the possibility of losing their slice of digital space all at once.
I am not sure how this affects people too much.
Before this change, Core 1 & 2 used 1,440 RA per day. Core 3 & 4 used 1440 RA and 1440 RH (or 2880 RA if only one RM on the Base) per day.
Now all the Bases will need just under 2 x 5kers of RA per day or about 12 per week. Unless you have a group of POBs out in the middle of nowhere, the extra work is an extra few minutes work a day.
The positive side is that if you do a Core Upgrade the time it takes your Base to repair is reduced by 1/3.
Quote:So, the best option to get your POB to full health, in the quickest time, is to supply it with all 3 RMs. You need 2 in number of any of the RMs to heal 2,000 hps. This will mean that you need:
2 x 3 x 60 x 24 = 8,640 of each RM, each day, to be supplied to your Base for 14.66 days to get it to full health (126,662 units of each RM).
Seeing as Hull Segments take up 2 cargo space each, you will need:
Trips: 101 trips X 5kers.
This now becomes 8,640 of each RM, each day, to be supplied to your Base for 5 days to get it to full health (42,2620 units of each RM).

My post was in regards to the point of POBs requiring more than 1 person to operate. Currently, there are numerous active bases with just one person operating them. These changes are a big swing and I warn any further big swings toward the goal of making bases a group undertaking will shock the POB economy and cause people to leave rather than slow implementations to give people time to band together and form the groups required to operate a POB. Only speculative points given recent comments.
But to your point, I agree. Item #2 mitigates #1 by providing an increased repair rate for the POB. People who cannot log in once a day can let the base degrade some but let their incoming supply repair at the faster rate once they can log. Plus it would make sieges harder to achieve because of the repair rate, at least initially until supplies run out.
I still think there is a better method to all of this. PM sent

I personally maintained a PoB under the old system where the repair material quantity was the same as they will be after this change. I did it alone. It really wasn't that bad. PoBs are mostly meant to be a group effort. Twelve 5kers a week with two or three people is what, half an hour a week for all those people? Assuming the PoB isn't built right next to a supply point, which many are. It's really not that bad. Maybe a grace period isn't a horrible idea, but this isn't some kind of crazy change.
If you don't think PoBs are worth this kind of long term effort investment, maybe PoBs aren't for you.
And yes, obviously this affects players who maintain a dozen PoBs solo. It's almost as if that was never really an intended way for them to be used, unless the person doing it devotes many hours a day to it (which is a choice they can make) for years on end.
It has been decided that Points 1 & 2 will go live in 2 weeks time (12th of April) and Point 3 will go live tomorrow as that won't affect those people who 'care' for there Bases.

Big thank you for that!
