I've tried to play for the past couple of days but it's beyond bad. Disco has always been a playground for the few that make changes on their own whim. The Freelancer has died long ago in this mod. Everything revolves around capital ships and upgrading more already absurd ships..
No room whatsoever for an indie that wants to fly a snub, and now you can target nova torps with guns? Just one of the many hilariously bad updates. haha Nerfed bombers to the point of no use at all. Are you kidding me. I went thro patch notes and it was hilarious. Buffing caps that could already survive 5 bombers bashing nova's for 30 minutes is hilarious. How will you attract new players? Why is this constant focus on the caps? New players have long learning curve and until they reach a cap they will stop playing the game.
Transport ships have bigger power core and are loaded with more guns and shields then fighter ships, nowhere in the universe of any SCI-FI concept has this been even remotely considered..
The bounty hunter-pirate-trader concept is dead and it comes down to joining some [insertrandomname] faction with terrible story, bad rp and little activity. Events only encompass factions, naturally, god forbid there is a randomly passing indie that can interact and participate in the event..
I could go on but this needs complete overhaul of the crap that has been made so far.. sorry!

Transports are larger and have incredibly weak guns, more suited to keeping a snub off their backs than actually killing anything. A better comparison would be frigates, which sacrifice cargo quantity for bearing heavier armaments allowing them to punch above their weights
t. Indian War Canoe on Spanish War Galleon action enjoyer.
caps are not as overpowered as you think, though fights take longer between combat ships
pirate-trader-lawful(bounty hunter included) is dead mostly because of 2 things:
- economy designed for a player base of 150 players(too complex which doesn't force interactions)
- buffing transport ship to the point you need capital ships to pirate them
I get where you're coming from, and yeah, some of the changes can feel a bit overwhelming or even confusing, especially if you're more into the indie/snub side of gameplay. But I wouldn't say it's all bad. There's still a lot of potential in the mod—it just needs some balancing and perhaps more attention to the non-cap side of things.
The community still has creative energy, and while the current focus seems to be on capital ships, it doesn't mean smaller craft or indie play can't shine again with the right tweaks. Feedback like yours, even if a bit sharp, is important because it shows there's still passion for the core of what made Disco fun.
You can spot immediately on the comments who is the strangler of the community that keeps new players away. But it seems i am not the only one to have these thoughts.. I didn't say it all bad, no doubt a lot of effort was put into this but just in a completely wrong way. At least in term of attracting new players. It's 2025 and people have million options to go to..it's just a shame some people don't understand what needs to be done to get this to daily average of 100 people online - minimum.
