CTRL+V is the way to go.... when you are in debri/asteroid fields in a large freighter.
Any other time or in fighter class ships... the 'standard' view is the way to go.
Since the problem of manouvering larger ships in asteroid fields seems to be the most serious one in Discovery, I would like to suggest a solution. I don't know if it's possible, or if anyone would like to enact something like it, but here goes: The asteroids and debris look fine, but can really be a pain in the ***. Perhaps they should be visible ONLY. I mean, players should be able to see them, but their ships would fly through them, like through vacuum. Perhaps players owning smaller vessles will find it quite funny to be able to literally hide inside a bigger rock, but I think it is a reasonable price to pay for spending less time and patience on getting in and out of an astreroid/debris field. I myself had serious problems getting anywhere after buying my corsair dreadnaught, since almost all jumpholes leading out of the Omicron Gama system were located somewhere in an asteroid field( Omicron Theta, Omega 41, Unknown). Even when flying below 30m/s It took me some 15 minutes to get to the Theta jumphole. Should any of the admins read this post, I would be extremely grateful it they considered solving the mentioned problem in the next version of the Discovery mod.
One of the joys of owning such a large beast, and only 15 minutes. Good going, try Omega 5 sometime ...
Very little chance of that being 'fixed' as its part of owning and campaigning a battleship.
They are fleet fighting ships of the line, and not designed to swan about on their own all over Sirius without
careful planning. Its an open space vessel, not a runaround ... How easy do you want the game ? Lol ...

Come on Templar, you didn't really expect us to take that seriously did ya?
But what I would like to see go, are the tiny little pebbles in the asteroid fields. The ones you see at the last second, bounce of your windshield and alter your course just enough so you clip one of the big rocks, which in turn sends you spinning like an idiot. I mean seriously, its like a fly hitting your face when your out jogging and next thing you know you're sprawled in the gutter.

Hey, why don't we just lower the damage of mines to zero, give everyone infinite maneuverability, fighters able to shoot battlerazors, and trains to hold as much cargo as you can buy?
Bad idea man. These are some of the things you must think about when buying a BS. It might change your choice of ship, one able to go in asteroid fields instead of brute firepower, and also makes tactical choices different. You take away asteroids, you take out a layer of the game. Should we make planets able to be flown through as well? Maybe sensors that can detect anyone within 200km?
I have another bright idea, let's have flyable stations and planets, but keep the death if you run into a planet. That way, you could ram ppl, then they would die!! and if 2 planets ran into each other, then the server would crash!!! 3 Cheers for stupid ideas!!! (Dab, don't get into a stupid ideas fight with me *hiding a challenge in his disguised voice*)

I am a long-absent Supreme Commander, Executive Commander, Grand Admiral, Fleet Admiral, and Captain in the mighty Hellfire Legion. I have returned, and am on an urgent mission from Drake Thastus to return the Legion to its former glory, and to claim the galaxy for its own. Only then will I be able to rest.
