Members and allies of the Gaian nation, I have published a brief history of my origins written in the Third person. This is so
you may know a little bit about me should we meet in space.
Serena Smith, born to Richard and Ella Smith in 800 A.S. Attended private schools to learn flying and business, mostly funded
through father's wealth. Richard is an executive for Planetform, Inc. He was for a while responsible for climate control and
environment control in certain sectors of the Planet Gaia by contract with the Orbital Spa and Cruise. This exposed Serena to
the Gaian environment and natural beauty, which she saw was slowly being stripped away by corporations and sobbish tourists.
This view was also shared by her mother Ella, who tried unsuccessfully to draw her husband's and other officials' attentions
to the damages to the planet caused by artificialization and terraforming. One day, after leading a nonviolent protest through
the Planetform HQ, she and the whole group were neutralized and driven off with neural crowd control gases. Ella developed a
fatal reaction to these gases, and lay on her deathbed for a week. It was on her last day of life when she told Serena of her
acts...
A tearful, six year old Serena stood beside the bed, holding her dieing mother's hands. "Don't leave me mommy. I need you!"
The woman simply smiled and said "somethings are meant to happen, sweetums. If I must die, then I must die. But I want to tell
you something. Can you promise to listen?"
The girl simply nodded, her tears flying everywhere.
"A long time ago, when I first met your father, he was a very kind and caring man. He had a lot of pressure from his family
members, who were successful people. He always tried to stay true despite all the troubles that he had."
Serena just nodded, barely understanding what was being told to her.
"However, a person can only take so much. His whole demeanor changed, and he slowly became uncaring about others. This only
grew by his job in Planetform. He started caring less and less about the damages that he incurred to nature. Now, there is no
hope for him. He will retain his hateful nature forever."
Serena merely hugged her mother harder, wishing she would stay.
Serena became an inward girl after her mother's death. She secretly enjoyed being natural environments, including the
wilderness on Gaia. Her seclusion led to her having only few friends, since others either did not understand her or were just
hateful to her views. Her relationship with her father became lax, and eventually she would simply follow him wherever he took
her, speaking only when necessary.
At the age of 16, she inherited a large sum of credits from her mother's will, as well as a letter that her mother has written.
The letter detailed much of what her mother had told her before dieing, as well as a final plea that Serena not follow in her
father's footsteps. Following this, she quickly took to lurking around shady neighborhoods at night, trying to find some escape
from her life as the daughter of a rich industrialist.
It was here she learned of the Gaian movement. Upon hearing a broken radio report, something stirred in her heart as she remembered
her mothers efforts to save the natural environment that Serena had grown to love so much. Sneaking from the house with her
inheritance, she took the public transportation to the nearest backwater spaceport on Leeds...
Serena walked around the spaceport. It was a private dealer who specialized in civilian craft that were used often by corporate
industries.
'Hmmm, Startracker....no too light....Starblazer....that doesn't seem too much better.....Eagle.....looks intimidating'
Unable to make up her mind, she kept searching through the showrooms, finally coming across the Roc.
'Ahhhh just what I need it can hold together and probably survive out there at least until I find some others by God I gotta
find them or I'm dead my father will kill me the police will kill me no I've go to find them yes just what I need'
Recovering from a slight panic attack, she quickly made over to the dealer.
The dealer, an aging man who had retired from space travel, took in the girl in front of him. 'Hmmm short, brown hair seems to
be untamed, blue eyes, probably just another teenage for a joy ride but we'll see'. "What can I do for you, Missy?"
Serena, with a sudden surge of confidence replied "I don't ever want to come back here. I need the Roc bomber."
The dealer was slightly take aback, but he recognized the determination in Serena's eyes. "Very well. Since it's my last one,
I'll give you a discount. 5 million credits."
Serena set forth with the Roc. She had been to the Taus with her father, so she took to Tau 29 to dock on the Freeport. She
managed to purchase some guns for her craft here, as well as a near-complete map of the Sirius Sector from a retired freelancer.
In subsequent weeks of her 17th birthday, she gained the necessary identification and registrations as a certified Gaian, ready
to protect the persecuted wilderness which was once her home.
