//I thought that now [Trafalgar] is a more settled clan it was about time we gave the forum a general synopsis of what we do. I decided to avoid a wall of narrative & favoured a more bullet point approach - once this has gone thought the Disco Forum Mill I will fine tune accordingly & add pictures etc. We do appreciate that our RP does step on established areas of game interaction, but we hope those involved realise that its practically impossible not to do so.

Introduction
Questioning a Bretonian Junkers right to speak openly about his home because hes not chosen of Congress is not a good way to conduct business, thought Taffic. If Congress views Trafalgar Base as their possession, mused Taffic, then its time to re-enter the debris jungle. Taffic cracked his knuckles & sent transmissions to his most trusted.
What we do
Trafalgar Junkers are a trading/smuggling outfit but we also dabble in opportunist piracy (against fools) in quieter systems. We are gradually building relations with our neighbours to strengthen our political and business opportunities & to boost Trafalgars prosperity. Operating successfully in Bretonia requires subtlety so Trafalgar Junkers prefer to operate under the radar and not get overly involved in the concerns of others.
OOC Stuff
We prefer to play Freelancer on the Server, afterall its a game dudes.
We do wish to work with other Junker organisations & hope our actions will create a more diverse Junker Community that still shares similar goals. Basically we're old school Junkers.
If I or one of my members has caused OOC offense, then please PM me.

Objectives
It is our firm belief that Trafalgar Base should be run by the locals & that Liberty Congress should revert to its original mission statement of assisting the Junker Community as a whole, rather than getting involved in local politics. If no viable local Junker community exists at a base then we would encourage & support Congress to act as Caretakers, but Trafalgar Base has a viable community & has been making its own decisions for some time. We wish to work with Congress & we hope they wish to work with us too.
Our ports are open for all Junkers & we will show respect to the deserving. If any Junker wishes to conduct their business on Trafalgar (& it isn't to the detriment of the Base) then we will welcome them warmly & will assist if required.
I've seen a few of you on my Buccaneer. Got two comments.
1. I've never seen any of you break RP. Even when a [Trafalgar] transport was rushing away so his MOX wouldn't decay, he explained why in-character. I like seeing that, keep it up.
2. One of you called my Buccaneer a freelancer. For future reference, we're not Freelancers. We're pirates in classic "rob from the rich, and from everyone else" style. Well, except what we don't rob, anyway. Something to keep in mind since Trafalgar's one of the main bases we use.
I'm looking forward to future encounters, and to possible business dealings.

I wish I had known this sooner.
If this passes I'm out of a job and McMillan becomes useless as [Trafalgar] will be calling all the shots.
I guess I will just have to emigrate to Gallia or somthing.

By "Liberty Congress" you mean the Junker Congress, correct? The faction that put the gaffer in place on Trafalgar to begin with. Taffic went incommunicado, I placed someone else in as the Trafalgar guy as when someone drops off the radar, he isn't certain to return. Things need to keep moving forward regardless of absences.
The "getting involved in local politics" is my mandate and it is for the betterment of Junkers as a whole. The Congress spearheaded the Junker faction's current position in Bretonia through an observed opportunity, and it was won with a bit of brainstorming and McMillan's initiative and leadership. He does things a little differently, a bit more brutally at times. That's the Junker way; sometimes the animals who come by Junker facilities need to be spoken to in their own language.
As for Congress "ownership" of Trafalgar, I'm assuming you mean McMillan's barring Jackal pilots from using the base as well as the stuff that goes on in the watering hole. About the Jackals: they're rogue Junkers, a 'pariah' subfaction on the surface. They're more than that underneath and the 'barring' is a formality that's generally going to go unenforced. Neither Trafalgar nor any other Junker station is owned by any single faction in our eyes; the Congress is simply the widest-spread and most powerful organization out there. It is a gestalt of clans and powerful individuals from all Junker bases in Sirius; operating a mosaic of operations that appear far apart and fragmented, but beneath the surface build toward a single objective.
Yes, the Congress has changed a good deal in its transition between leaders. I've received a lot of criticism regarding how we "don't do things the way Tinkerbell did" and how we're "undoing a lot of hard work". I've listened to this criticism, but I've received a lot of compliments regarding the Congress' transparency and how we're an easier faction to interact with as well. So something is clearly being done right as well.
McMillan will remain doing as he does in Bretonia, working with the Trafalgar Junkers. In turn, the Trafalgars are asked to work with the Congress as well. As I said; when Taffic simply fell off the scope with no warning, a new man was put in his place in the Congress. But the Congress no longer delegates individuals to adjudicate stations, rather it appoints someone to head up its operations in a single house with free-roaming pilots and captains sent between the houses to act as a task force. While it may seem on the surface that the Trafalgar junkers make Congress presence in the area redundant, our methods are different and purpose remains. But there will be friction, RP can be built on that.
But that's the thing: Congress does have a stake in Trafalgar's operations regardless of who claims
the big chair. Bretonia is the big juicy spot for Junker roleplay right now and I've done a lot of work to set a stage for operations there. I'm going to keep things going as they have been there and there are going to be compromises made on both sides.
The execution of the RP I've seen on my other characters has been good. The concept and the intent behind it will cause friction on both sides, though. I really wish this had been brought to my attention.
Thank you for your responses & I will endevour to answer them.
I'll start with Thexare's observation first. We never break RP on system chat & I am glad that has been observed by our visitors to Trafalgar base. I do have a couple of very new players to Disco so its probable they see the IFF & assume - I will educate & rectify.
Thanks Ivan - whilst we've enjoyed interacting with different players on the server, OPG are memorably fun.
Rudo - your questions will take longer. Firstly you are quite correct that I left the game, something I hadn't intended to do, but it was interfering with my ability to do my part time course which is why I informed Tink that I would be standing down & had found a suitable replacement. I didn't just leave with no warning - I put my house in order first!

Congratulations, I'm glad you took the role & its yours to keep - please make Bretonian Junkers prouder than I could. I have undertaken a very time consuming personal project & cannot serve our peoples as I would want, so it is only right that I stand down. All I ask is that you try to retain our neutrality in Bretonia - the rest is up to you.
Good luck friend. You have my support.
Taffic
Obviously Linux didn't retain the post & you chose McMillian to fulfil the role.
Onto ownership of Trafalgar Base. This has nothing to do with the Watering Hole or the Jackals. McMillian & I did agree that where alacrity was required a decision would just be made & modified if required later, but the Toenail stuff was planned, so a pre-execution chat would have avoided the politics. No my take on ownership come from this IC comment which was the cataylst to me forming [Trafalgar].
' Wrote:Now then, Taffic is it? We do need to talk on private comms. Old member or no, you stepped down and the Congress has restructured in your absence. While the crew of the base will still remember you and take your orders, that base is now under my juristiction as per the decicion of the Congress' new leaders.
I see Congress as a global body so its only fitting that you have your own representatives in different parts of Sirius. In all my language on the forum, PM & in-game I have never once suggested that you do not have the right to this representation & I have defended your purpose to indie Junkers who don't get you. If I turned around & said we dont want an Arbiter for Bretonia, Id be a hypocrite & thats one thing Ill not be labelled. That said we are quietly growing in renown & have cemented business opportunities, because we are seen as distinct from Congress. I imagine this will continue.
Our RP is not intending to unravel relations, but to (in a Junker's way) get our slice of the pie. Whilst I appreciate that Congress has invested its efforts all over Sirius, you surely must also appreciate that other Junker Groups should be allowed to breath & enrich the game world for all Disco players. I think it good that different regions have different flavours & I also think its only natural & healthy for Junkers as a whole to have these variations. We are proud old school Bretonian Junkers that trade & smuggle, however since mining is relatively pointless in Bretonia we cannot cater adequately for that style of play. I don't see this as a loss for Trafalgar, but an opportunity for Bornholm or Rochester.
Finally, every leader has a right to govern as they see fit despite the mutterings of others, youve held the post for some time which speaks for itself. If your decision making was in serious question Id be addressing this post to another. Whilst I think Congress is now more Junkerish, I'd have a look at your communication skills. Of course there will be RP friction, but I have not witnessed OOC crap or meta-gaming which is a testiment for both sets of players - long may it continue! Friction can create. Long live the Junkers
I'm glad to finally see some structure advancement of your concept , Taffic. To be honest, untill now what I felt was that you just barged your way back and started barking out orders. I'm sure that now you and McMillan can have intense political debates. Unless he sends someone to assassinate you .... Naw , just messin with ya;)
But yeah , I hope to see alot from you guys in the future.

Thanks - I do appreciate this reply; especially the wit. I am a credit controller by trade so I'm well trained at picking the right time to get into anothers comfort zone.
When I first started recruiting I really wasn't certain how things would work out for us & in fairness we did initially try following a different direction, whilst searching for our niche. One idea fell very flat, very quick & the other proved impractical following worsening relations between Congress & Legacy. I had wanted to present an overview for some time, but I felt it best to test the longevity of our ideas first before coming to the community as a whole.
Fair enough. McMillan is happy to leave local matters to Local Junkers. If I had known this sooner and clearer there would have been less friction, but its done now so whatever.
Unless a message or action directly relates to the Congress from a Bretonian Party, then McMillan will leave it for [Trafalgar] to deal with as they see fit.
I guess you can consider this in action from this moment forth.
All McMillan asks is that he can keep his Office and Bar.

I ran into one of your [Trafalgar] boys last week at Bornholm, and I was quite impressed with him. We had a good chat for a time while picking through the debris field.
I look foward to seeing more of you in the future to be sure. :)
You ask me why Im weary, why I cant speak to you.
You blame me for my silence, say Its time I changed and grew.
But the war's still going on dear, and theres no end that I know...
And I cant say if were ever...
I cant say if were ever gonna be free.
