To Venerable Professor Moriarity and Acclaimed Director Phate:
I wish to report my involvement in partial completion of Mission 7 - securing a kiloton each of H-fuel, ship hull panels, engine components and assorted ship maintenance materials. With assistance from Mr Zokas, I have managed to fulfil the requirements concerning H-fuel and ship hull panels. Engine components shall be dealt with at a later time, either by myself or another available Technician.
Concerning H-fuel:
This part of the assignment had been simple to deal with. After a brief congregation with my contacts in Leiden Base, we have managed to intercept a misaddressed broadcast transmission, widely proclaiming news of an H-fuel convoy due to arrive in the Galileo system inside a quarter or two. Having by then acquired a Pirate Transport for my own use, I endeavoured to intercept this convoy and lighten their load, leaving any excess fuel to be gained in the hands of our Lovable Rogues in Padua Base. Thus I aimed to pre-emptively re-compensate for what they might have viewed as a transgression of our unspoken agreement in the Galileo Sector.
The vessel I targeted was a Samura Train - SIS Olita. Once I confirmed that they were, in fact, hauling H-fuel - targeting false positives would serve no-one - I explosivelydecommissioned a few of their tanks. I ventured to take enough for both The Lane Hackers and the Lovable Rogues, yet at the same time leaving the ship in working condition - again, needless investigations into overtly aggressive attacks serve no-one.
The cargo was then transported to Mactan, care of Mr Zokas. Unfortunately, I appear to have since misplaced the actual receipt, yet I trust that Mr Zokas will have transferred the fuel to the Corporate Calamity by the time you read this, where it can hopefully be inspected at your discretion.
Concerning ship hull panels:
On this front, the matters were appreciably peaceful. Lest I forget, my hat is off to Mr Zokas for his invaluable assistance. During our routine inquiry into the Magellan Trade Lane traffic, we have intercepted an IMG Atlas overstuffed with the cargo we were after. This being the IMG, cargo piracy was simply not a viable option, so after a brief, private deliberation we decided to simply purchase half of the cargo in question.
The price suggested by the trader - three thousand credits per tonne - has been adjusted by Mr Zokas to a more fitting figure, resulting in its reduction by a third, thus satisfying all concerned parties. While Mr Zokas absconded to Mactan to return for the cargo in a vessel more fit for the purpose, I escorted the trader to Freeport 4, where the deal was sealed.
I remain, as always, your most humble and obedient servant, Eduardo de Valfierno.
