INCOMING TRANSMISSION
COMM ID: Governor Thomas McLachlan
LOCATION: Toronto Station, Ontario System
TARGET ID: Ontarian General Populace
Good morning to the people of Ontario.
What we share is a common identity, one that brought us all together in the recent elections to name the ODP to the leadership of this system, and the two Senatorial Seats that Ontario holds in the Libertonian Congress.
To this end, I invite the citizenry of the Ontario system, Toronto, Thunderbay, Dryden, the Ottawa, Fort Severn, Hamilton Station and Cochran Depot to a subspace Town Hall meeting to discuss your issues.
I will answer your questions on your system, and listen to your concerns about the state of Liberty, the future direction you wish your Senators to take in Congress, and your views on the current laws and practices in Ontario.
Of Chief Concern is the Ontarian Plan to Nationalize the LPI in Ontario, and a push for our Senators to submit a bill to the Libertonian Congress with the same Goal.
Of Secondary Concern is the issue of Copy-right law concerning software produced in the region, and if you, the people of Ontario, wish to decriminalize the materials.
Other issues can, of course, be added to the Agenda.
***Pauses***
Also as Governor, I have a responsibility to maintaining the peace, and as such I am granted powers of reprieve and the ability to pardon persons for crimes committed in Ontario.
As such, it is my duty to my citizenry to grant them a clean slate. To allow them an unblemished record to participate in our legal process.
Members of the Xenos Alliance that have campaigned in the Ontario System for a voice, speaking for the economically dispossessed, have found an ear in the ODP, and are integral to the future stability of this system.
To this end I am using my Executive Authourity in the State of Ontario to Officially Pardon Jonathon "Death Adder" Jones of any crime committed in the State of Ontario, and invite him to Toronto Station to attend the Town Hall meeting to give a speech concerning the views of the people he represents.
It is important that all voices are heard. I was elected on the understanding that I listened to my constituents, and so I shall.
Please, this is an open thread. Your views and comments are welcome here.
It was inevitable that this message would be forwarded to me. It was just as inevitable that I would respond, so now you have it. It's time for me to open my mouth again and preach the good book of Ontario.
We have serious issues to address, especially those regarding the policing of your fair homes. What I'm asking of you people is to come out and voice your concerns. Speak with your fellow citizens and tackle these issues like you always have.
Like we always have. The matters that present themselves are of copyright law and of policing, both issues that fall under my jurisdiction. And both issues that influence your lives. Now with those formalities covered I would like to discuss my stance on these matters.
On the matter of copyright software being produced and distributed within our home and abroad, I feel that the issue of software integrity falls to the manufacturer. We do not have resources to allocate to the apprehension and targetting of these petty criminals while real threats exist outside our door. Ontario should consider counterfeit software a non-issue, decriminalized and without possibility of prosecution within our system, though allowing for review and amendment at a later defined date.
On the matter of a nationalised LPI within Ontario, by rights I say we should be granted freedom. Our issues are diverse and of a nature not familiar to standard LPI doctrine. We must confront, outwit, and even confuse our way to survival. Idyllic and unique are two words to define Ontario, and I feel that we should be given special reprieve to enforce a unique criminal justice system within it's borders. A semi-autonomous police force is in my eyes, ideal. Though a hot button issue, I welcome all citizens to comment.
