To Major James S Patterson, Liberty Marine Corps.,
I am grieved by the loss of your family and fiancee, and applaud your dedication to Liberty and her people. If more members of your service felt the way you do, it may be that my efforts here would not be needed. But the fact remains, and this can be supported by visual evidence as well as witness testimony, that much of the time Liberty forces sit idle while civilians call futily for help. I, and my company, understand that you cannot fire untill you find out what is truly going on. But in order for you and your men to get to the bottom of events they need to get to where the events are happening. If they are sitting idle in orbit around Manhattan or Norfolk, they aren't out protecting those people who depend on them. Just today a trader was chased for more than 800k by a pirate openly broadcasting his chase and intent while a CRUISER sat at manhattan doing nothing. That is deriliction of duty. One of my ships was destroyed in California by rogues while a LNS vessel was nearby. The only thing my ship recieved from the LNS was a comunicae stating it was the ship captains fault for flying a tradelane near rogue territory. That is deriliction of duty.
I do not claim that all captains of liberty athority vessels are in error. I have had pleasant and helpful dealings with several. I have also seen several rescuing civilians. I thank those officers and thier crews, treat them with respect, and sometimes reward them monitarily. The problem is that I see far more doing nothing when times of crisis appear.
You ask if I know the pain of losing my men? I am losing ships everyday out there. In the heart of Liberty, the land of freedom, I lose at least one ship a day. There are people on those ships. People I send out. People I care for. People making sure your men get the medicine, vehicles, food, air, fuel, and letters from home they need to carry on. People who are dieing. My people who are dieing. They are not soldiers. They did not take an oath to die to protect your men. You took an oath. Your men took an oath. You vowed to that the citizens of Liberty should not come to harm by forces domestic or foreign. Because you did take that vow we built you the best ships we could to face that danger. Trained your men the best we could to face that danger. Carried your blankets, brought you food, put roofs over your head, treated your wounds, and the list goes on. How much is that oath worth when those ships full of those men sit idle while we go out and face the danger? Think about that, Major.

you make a valid point <jimmy started as he sipped from a bottle of water> yet there are flaws,to enforce those stipulations means there is only more red tape to cut through, more ROEs to alter, more taxpayer dollers to put into the military.
if every ship responded to one mayday call al lit would do is cause collateral damage, besides did you not think that they may be waiting to ambush a outcast gunboat or a rogue fighter wing. or perhaps standing guard incase a Rhineland fleet jumps into the system.
i know you are angry but you must understand that due to our rules, our protocols a cruiser cant for instance attack a pirate Transport, nor can one fighter engage it without a 70precent casualty risk or higher(i said fighter not bomber mind you)
may i also remind you that if the same naval or marines or security force vessels escorted every convoy there would be no backup free
<he sipped the water again and crushed out a cigarette he had in a tray beside him> you good sir can take it upon yourself to hire escorts and when im free if you wish ill fly as your scout personally or have the jima patrol your route.
i had thought you to be a man who did not really know how we work but as i see more and more complaints file in i correct myself and offer my humblest of apologies,i cant speak for fleet but my marines,Liberty's Marines pride ourselves in our duty.
there's been a recent influx of what we call " weekend warriors" or guardsman of all branches lately and the national guards training regime is different from our own,as they are only required to train two weekend s a month mandating patrols is not an answer as it is redundant ... informing the respective command authority of deralation of duty is.
i believe we both know what has to be done, lets not waste more time chatting about it
