While it was never directly stated, (And Dab's gonna love this as an admission of "meddling".. heh), The person known to the KNF as "Chijin", aka "The Fool", bore a striking resemblance to one "Malaclypse".
"Chijin" began merely as an Advisor, footslogger, and "cash cow" for the KNF, which was struggling after the loss of Admiral Simon Walker, for whatever reasons. But, as events transpired, and more "defections" occurred, "Chijin" was more or less left in a position of Leadership.
At that point, I attempted to make Chijin more of his own character, rather than a clone of Malaclypse; but I was never comfortable with the possible fact that I was bending the rules by leading two factions.
That is the primary reason why Chijin resigned as Taisho of the KNF, and LoTeK_ is now its very capable Leader.
As further "penance", I deleted all my KNF characters, as well as a couple who hung out with BSG; the second being only so I could focus once more on my first love, the Discordian Faction known variously as "The Erisian Liberation Front", the "Free State of Fernando Poo", and now the "Temporary Autonomous Zoners.
So, there's my confession. You may all now form two long lines, get your paddles, and I will present my bare buttcheeks for your Imprimatur.
if that happened we would be overrun by independants that all have different standards of rp, which would be utterly devastating. The admins would commit suicide......
EDIT: im responding to DO, not Mal......lol

Actually you'd be quite surprised Duke. I used to play on a strict RP server that each player could only be in one faction. It actually increased RP, and VERY few people wanted to be "loners" because the factions were actually cohesive and worked together, as any faction play, was with the same people, frequently.
Honestly I really do think it would put RP more into focus.. Just my two cents really.
as for Mal.. well he's always been a bit schizo since I've been here at least... lol
EDIT:
Just so people don't get me wrong.. I am not saying we need to or even should change to a 1 char per faction.. Disco has been the way it is and doesn't really need that magnitude of a change.
Being a faction leader myself, I don't spread myself wide to other factions since it means I'll end up with conflicting interests, needing to be in two places at the same time, etc. Other players can manage this better, and all the power to them. Being in other factions does allow for friendlier interactions between forces as you can have the case where a player knows what it is like to be on both sides, trick though is ensuring that the actions with one faction remain independent from the actions of another.
My thoughts are that a player can have chars in any faction as long as they can properly separate the roles. However, leaders should only be the leader for one faction, leading two is a conflict of interest. But if a leader of one faction wants to have a char in another faction and can properly distinguish the roleplay of the two then sure.
