Its the idea but I would prefer perfection. If it means more credits then thats what I'll do.

You know that if you set a blending mode to darken or it's variations in PS (I guess in Gimp too) the white won't matter?

Me neither, I use dictionary. Here. It won't help you making the background transparent, but you can replace it without having to cut. It has one minor setback - that method would burn the the whites of the face too. That could be circumvented by cutting the image to two separate layers - a middle and an outer part - and only blend the latter.

Thats good Kaz, can you try and make the shirt symmetrical? Make the angle of the shirt the same. Basically cut the right side until its declining at the same angle as the left.
