I was stopped by certain individuals and we agreed upon a 2 mil price....when I tried to pay, they increased the price again. After killing my train....(there were 3 VHF's) I see "lol" in system chat....
I hope you sent in a rules violations report about that incident, as those were illegal terrorists, not pirates.

Yet I have been accused of this once. The trader in question ran, after taking hull hits he stopped and said he would Pay. Fair enough...
Yet after bringing up the trade window he tried to run again, I open fire. He then stops again and says he'll pay.
No, I only give around 2 chances (Which I think is fair) you blow them you blow..
*raises hand* Thanks for not dropping names, but that was this guy to be fair and honest.
I was sitting sideways across some trade rings in a Whale and forgot that the 'dock' command was still in place, as I was fumbling around with the trade arrangements the durned trade ling gave a feeble pulse back to life before being promptly shut down again :$
It was fair and fine from your perspective. But I wanted to say in my own defense that I wasn't trying to pull a fast one on you (hard to pull a fast anything in a Whale, let alone one upside down and beached) and if I gave the impression that I was accusing you of simply trying to shoot me down, I apologize.
Quote:"5.8 If a player engages cruise engine or docks during a PvP fight, this player is considered fleeing. The fleeing player must not enter the system where the fight took place with any of the characters on his/her account(s) while the enemy (player or players involved in the fight) remains in the system, but no more than 4 hours.
So can someone please explain that rule to me? If your in a fight, and try to retreat, then the enemy should stop fighting? One things for sure, that NEVER happens to me... so am I misunderstanding the rule or? With retreating I mean as in turning your back to an enemy and trying to cruise. Yet what if your engine's get killed/you get killed? Is that a legit kill or what?

no, if you are trying to excape by using cruise / tradelane / JH - YOU are passive and retreating. the other player is active and can choose to let you go ( so that you are considered retreated ) or he can chase you ( resulting in you being allowed to engage him again ( being followed means to be in a constant close proximity - usually something up to sensor range *14 clicks* )
when the retreating player is farther away, he has fled officially and has to move out of the system - BUT the chasing player can still go on chasing him if he feels like it. but he needs not to.
so if a player just want to "defend" a place, he can make the other one retreat - and let him retreat. the retreating player must leave the system ( as long as the defending player is in that system - but 4 hours max )
the difference is . the fleeing player must not turn and fight again, but can if chased
the chasing player can decide to chase, but must not if he doesn t want to
So in short, dying or fleeing gives you the same result, other then you might not have to worry respawning on the other side of Sirius? That still sounds a bit dodgy... I mean [looking at it from a real life-perspective], if you retreat, you still are alive, and can gear up for a second strike, aye?

no, retreat - gives you two advantages over death. first, you can re-engage in another system if being followed. ( dead players cannot, cause they are .... dead ) .... and a dead player must usually leave the zone for 4 hours. if he is serious about RP, even if the attacker isn t there anymore.
a retreated player may enter the zone he retreated from. so basicly - if you were chased out, but the attacker went his way after all - you can return to the zone.
example: you (xeno) are doing tasks in colorado. LPI comes in and chases you around, and you retreat to kepler. they do not follow you - but retreat themselves to new york again. - you are free to return to colorado to do more missions. if you died, you shouldn t go back to colorado for 4 hours, no matter if the LPI hung around there or not.
Let's say you are a police officer, you stop a smuggler, infront of NY, loaded with cardamine..., he starts his speedy run, you with your police weapons can't really stop him, and he docks, sells the lot... and usually leaves, or laughs in your face...
I didn't find any rule against this, but docking on a base, while in being in a similar situation, should be against the rules.
