Irony : incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result ; an event or result marked by such incongruity
Seth was bored. Very Bored. Which was bad. He should be angry and brooding right about now. It would certainly help, heck anything might help at this point. But noooo, the best thought Seth could muster was how to find a way to be able to twiddle his thumbs.
The room wasn't helping to distract him much. Completely Grey with dim lighting all the way around, accept for one door and a mirrored window. A single table and two chairs occupied the room. There was an LSF guard in the corner who was standing so stiff that he could qualify as furniture.
Affter a glance around the room Seth returned to trying to figure out how the thumb thing worked again, He barely noticed the smug officer enter the room.
"Well mister Driskill, I finally get to look you in the face." Rounds the table to grad his seat "I must give you a kudos. My surveillance photos, not one of those faces look anything like you."
"You seem a little agitated. I hope your comfortable. Want a coffee? I want a coffee. Lieutenant would you mind going to the break room and grabbing a coffee. Strike that, make it the pitcher. We will want plenty for when the boss gets hear. By god he hates being shot at......."
The best Seth had to hope for now was that the LSF commander would be not be an Mr. Haha like the officer who was sitting in front of him.
"Captain Carpenter, sir!" The duty sergent snapped to his feet.
Carpenter looked at the seargent "Where's Driskill?" he said abrubtly. Sergent Evans checked his monitor avoiding Carpenter's eyes, the Captain was obviously furious at something.
"Cell 367D sir!" Evans replied "Allow me to escort you"
"Very well Sergent, carry on" Carpenter followed Evans through a some double doors into a maze of corridors all lined with doors. Behind alot of them he could hear sobs and other unpleasant noises of despair, he hated coming to the serious criminal detention centre. The facility was invariably filled with enemies of the state that had been identified as holding valuable information that had to be learned.
Evans stopped "Sir, 367D"
"Thank you Sergant, you may go"
He opened the detention room door to see Driskill sat at the small table in the cenre of the room. Agent Harris was across from him. Harris looked round and saw Carpenter and smiled thinly "Sir"
"Thank you Harris, I'll take it from here. Take our friend with you" he nodded at the guard in the corner. Harris signalled the guard to follow him and the two men left the room.
Carpenter walked to the opposite side of the table from Driskill and looked at the man. He was restraind at the wrists and ankles with chains and looked exhausted. No wonder thought Carpenter, he had ordered Driskill be deprived of sleep.
"Seth Driskell" Carpenter began as he picked up the file left by Harris on the table and slowly took his seat. "Known member of the Slaver Union and associate of the Junkers" Carpenter lit a cigarette and took a long drag then exhaled.
"How does it feel to be in chains Driskill, poetic justice indeed!" Carpenter smiled a not very warm smile "I can only assume you have lost your mind to attack an LSF Agent in that heap of junk you were piloting! I wonder what your comrades will make of your arrest?" Carpenter knew already from intelligence recieved that the SU were enraged at Driskill's attack at a critical stage of talks between the SU and the Liberty Goverment. " I hear they are most upset!"
Driskill sat silently staring blankly at Carpenter.
"I dont like getting shot at Driskill, especially when I am engaged in a firefight with a Hacker!" Carpenter leaned forward "Attempted murder carries some stiff penalties I am sure you are aware, my black box has been reviewed and the case against you is open and shut" Carpenter paused for another drag on his smoke.
"You will be spending along time on Sugarland my friend, but before you go there I have marked you down as a case of special interest. You will be interogated for any information pertaining to illegal activity most thourghly before you go anywhere Driskill" Carpenter smiled again. The boys in interogation had already been told to go to work on Driskill when he arrived. Captain Daniel Carpenter was old school, he had many many friends in the Goverment and lawful establishment's of Liberty and his influence would be felt.
Driskill sat unmoving and unflinching, hes a tough son of a bitch thought Carpenter but no one was so tough that they were not eventually broken. And that was this man's future.
"To be honest Driskill, I could not give a flying frak if you know anything valuable or not! But I will enjoy checking up on your progress" Carpenter stood up and stubbed his cigarette out then walked round the table to stand on Driskill's left.
"Apologies would you like a cigarette, he reached out a cigarette to the chained man who took it and placed in his mouth. Carpenter held out his lighter as Driskill leaned forward to take the light he smashed a powerful right hook into Driskill's jaw. Carpenter heard the crack of the mans jaw before he spun from his seat, banged off the table and fell slumped to the floor.
Carpenter straighened his uniform and walked to the door. "Goodbye Driskill, we won't meet again" He opened the door to find Harris standing there with the guard. "Take care of our guest Tony" Carpenter said to Harris "Then afterwards get him down to interogations medical unit"
Harris smiled and nodded at the guard beside him. Carpenter watched the two men enter the room drawing their batons from their waist's, then turned round and made his way back to the desk Sergant feeling better already.
