Mints are on the pillows, don't grope the barmaids too heavily. They don't like it, too much. Be mindful of our menagerie of communism and flippant behaviour. Other than that don't feed the animals, read teh rules twice over and enjoy your stay at les Chateaux au Discovery.
I will consider all offers seriously... ... so... whats the standard rate in bribes around here?;)Kidding!
I do prefer to work for my own stuff, to earn my own cash to buy what I want and need. So I don't need, or even want, any kind of "donations". After all earning the cash and trying to gather up enough resources is half the fun in playing a game like this. There is no fun in getting handed half a mil so I could buy the ship needed for certain factions to "fit in".
I have always gone my own ways in all games I have played, be them singleplayer or mmos, I am not mentioning normal SP games that have Multiplayer in them, like Freelancer, because honestly I really don't like multiplayer (or pvp if you will). But Freelancer is different, it is actually the first, and only, SP game I have played where I wanted to play multiplayer. And on a side note; Warhammer Age of Reckoning is the first mmo I have seen that makes me want to play pvp (rvr) in an mmo, which I normally shun like a vampire shuns sunlight.:laugh:I will most likely go my own ways here to, because thats usually my nature when it comes to computer games. Or at least put my own twist on things.
As for which faction, I am still uncertain, mainly because I don't like to restrict my self to much, unless I really want to. Which might be a problam if I join the Bretonian Police, Navy or QCRF (depending on your rules), because I am guessing that in these you should be as much as possible in-RP with what ships and weapons you use, or what you do in the galaxy for that matter. Reading around on this forum does point me towards that being in-RP is what most people want, and some get pretty ticked off when people are not. I am both for and against being in-RP when it comes to the ships, weapons e.t.c.
I am for it when it is to restrict special ships or weapons that, according to the "fluff" (background and filler story to something, for you who don't know what fluff is;)), only certain factions use. Or that certain government/-s/-like factions, like a police, navy, military, specific factions (like nomads) and similar, only use specific kinds of ships and weapons in all the various sizes and type.
But then I am against it in the kind of factions that are more, none government, civilian, neutral and basically are or should be more "free to choice" so to say. Like the Bounty Hunters, I don't really like that they seem to be a faction that only use their own ships and weapons. Because to me, a BH, should/could be any guy from anywhere using any ship, weapon and equipment he feels he need to use and fits him the best, with in limits of course. Not that the BH's own ship are bad, they are all at least good, and in some cases damn near uber.:D I just don't like that a faction like the Bounty Hunters are restricted like this.
Of course I am not going on about this because I want you guys to change it, this is how the game + your server has made the rules, and thats the rules I will try and live by as much as I can. I just like to be able at times to go outside of the boundaries now and then, to explore and try new things. And find what fits me the best.
As for RP help, the only help I will probably need is with the factions, even after reading around some of it here, some parts don't seem that clear, but that will come over time. As for other RP help, I'm good for now, I have played pen and paper rpg since 1996, for about 3 years in the late 90's and early 00's I played in several Vampire Live LARPS, for about 2 years from 2004+ I was in a Star Wars rpg sim chat thingy, and have on a few occasions been in forum based rp's. So I think I will do ok.;)
My biggest problam, that none of you guys can really help me with, is that I tend to be slightly slower then your average rp'er, because I, 1: write to much to often, 2: take to long to think at times what to say, 3: I, at times, double/triple check what I write to make sure it sounds like I want it to sound.
Basically I am an over achieving perfectionist! lol And I am like that in almost anything I do, especially things I care about. It took me many many years to learn when to stop drawing for example, I used to ruin allot of drawings some 4-5 years ago due to not being able to stop trying to perfect them. Unfortunately I have not managed to get past it in my writing... like you can clearly see by this post! And another thing, this post has taken me about 30-40 minuts to write, read, change, rewrite, spellcheck (long live microsoft Word!):laugh:I know, im:crazy:.
I personally don't know howto make it run in windowed mode. I think you'd have to set some obscure values in a config file, but I'm not certain.

Treewyrm Wrote:all in all the conclusion is that disco doesn't need antagonist factions, it doesn't need phantoms, it doesn't need nomads, it doesn't need coalition and it doesn't need many other things, no AIs, the game is hijacked by morons to confuse the game with their dickwaving generic competition games mixed up with troll-of-the-day.
That will set Freelancer to run windowed, replace C:\ with whatever root drive it is installed to and add the -window section to your target line, outside of the quotations:)
Thanks! Now I only wish I could get rid of the slight lag I am having, I think it is mainly due to that where 3 people sharing the 10/10 mb broadband. It lags even though I have turned the graphics to minimal. Although, I know that when there are less people on the server I dont have any or as much lag.
Due to the lag I am having serious trouble with almost anything. Befor the crash I spent 10-15 minuts trying to shoot down one, ONE, corsair ship, the one that looks like one big wing.
It looks like the pilot has ticks or somehting, he jerks around all over the place, so when ever it is time to press the trigger he has turned the other way in an instance, or he moved forward already passing my aim. It does not help at all that the enemy can use all their nanos and bots. I even had trouble with the Junkers freigter, the one you can get from Manhattan... XD
I went into the SP game and raised the graphics back to max and checked to see the difference, and it's immensly different, I am able to follow their movment compleatly, and they dont seem to do very irrational and impossible things. lol
Well I have desided to "restrict" Rhodryn, he will become a Bretonian Navy guy, and I am thinking that I will take bluntpencil2001 up on his offer. So, who do I need to contact and what do I need to do both off game and in game to fix this, anything I need to do first like get a certain starting ship? E.t.c.
Edit: By the way, I noticed there seems to be 3 different smaller factions withint the Queens special force, what is that about or is t just the 3 levels you can go through?
I have made my second character also, Calistarius, he will be my Bounty Hunter/Mercanary type of char, maybe even a Freelancer, but more of the free-roaming type of char.

If you are speaking of a Legionnaire light fighter - they actually "lag" even when there is no lag.
Have you had the yellow/red lag sign in top left of your screen? Because it might just be the usual NPC that annoys you.
Yeah thats the ship I meen, I did fight some of them last night where I did not have any of the normal lag, and they did take longer then most other smaller ship.
I do have the yellow and red lag signs sometimes, not allways though.
