[font=Century Gothic]Her Royal and Imperial Majesty, Carina I of House Bretonia,
The state of affairs between our two nations is indeed troubling. However I must stress the fact that, as yet, my government has not officially declared a state of war against the nation of Bretonia. Should the situation worsen a full declaration may become inevitable.
I ask that you bear this in mind while pursuing your foreign policy, especially concerning the actions of your military representatives.
During your conflict with House Kusari the state of Rheinland protested your use of unwarranted tactics, in violation of War Laws, but understood that your nation faced a situation of total war.
That being said, I have been briefed on several instances in which attempts at ceasefire negotiations were met with deliberate attacks on our diplomatic vessels during those talks. Such attacks are also in violation of War Laws and are entirely unacceptable. They work against any effort at a peaceable conclusion to this conflict, and do severe damage to the credibility of your military representatives.
The Republic of Rheinland will not stand for further violations and deliberate attempts at sabotaging the cause of peace. I beseech you to bring an end to such uncouth methods before Rheinland is forced to escalate this conflict in the name of national security.
One cannot begin to express one’s extreme displeasure at the current state of affairs that has arisen over a mere triviality of a pawltry sum of money.
One was led to the understanding that you were our cousin, our houses have a long history and a shared ancestry back through the history books. But because we are blood kin, Niklaus, do not for one moment presume that we will overlook your transgressions.
This is the Royal House of Bretonia, proud and sovereign for over eight hundred years of dynasty, tradition, and of strength. We are not your wife, we will not be told what to do by your over eager men, and then beaten because we do not comply. My people are my subjects, and as such they fall under my benevolent protection.
What ever transgressions your Police Services may have observed, that does not excuse bringing an invasion fleet into this great house. You, Niklaus, must leash your hounds, they are going to war over a single tradeship.
Let me tell you a story, one that perhaps your mother may have told you when you were a child.
A monk and a student were walking through the forest, when they spied a fox chasing a rabbit. The old monk said to his student, “who will win?” To which the student replied, “The fox, master. He is bigger and he is stronger!” The master shook his head, and replied, “The Fox only runs for his dinner, the Rabbit runs for his life.”
Your warriors seek money, and punishment.
My people seek freedom from oppression.
You have blockaded my shipping lanes for six months now, and have laid claim to the Snowdown system, you have ignored my servants and messengers, and you have slaughtered my people. I do not seek dominance over you and yours, why then do you seek to impose your will upon my Kingdom?
Bretonia will not be treated like a bar room hussy, for you to ravage at will.
Niklaus, I have known you for a long time, I know you to be a wise man. Do not let the mad passions of your hounds drive you to loose yourself to their madness. Cease this pointless saber-rattling, and take your forces home.
Once your forces have left Bretonia, all of Bretonia from Leeds to Snowdown, never to darken our doorstep again, then we shall begin the peace process.
Carina I, Imperatrix
Queen of Bretonia
Empress of the Tau Systems
