Reporter: We are now at the New Wembley Stadium where BAF admiral Deneth Aleski is set to speak to the Nation at any moment now. The stadium, with a designated capacity of 300,000 people is utterly packed and there is an estimate crowd of over 600,000 all around the premises. We have not been told of what Admiral Aleski will talk about, but we can safely assume that he will touch on the recent hostilities unfolding in the Snowdown system. We... just a minute. We've just been told that Admiral Aleski will begin momentarily. Let's listen.
"My fellow Bretonians, sons and daughters of Albion, royal subjects of all origins, nationalities and corners of Sirius. My name is Deneth Aleski. I speak to you on this crisp New London night because - let us be frank - tough times lie ahead.
Tonight, I speak to you not as an Admiral of Her Majesty's Armed Forces. I speak to you not as the Military Governor of Newcastle. Tonight, I speak to you, the Bretonian nation, as a simple soldier. A soldier that volunteered to help defend a country in need.
This type of event is somewhat of a rarity for me, as speeches are not my forte. But honesty is. Now's the time to set things straight.
The current events unfolding in the Snowdown system are, in fact, only the culmination of approximately six months of increasingly aggressive Rheinlandish foreign policy in the area. The strife presently affecting Snowdown is yet another manifestation of Rheinland's expansionist and imperialistic agenda. Their latest efforts to seize by force what they cannot claim by right is but another piece of evidence showing us that their Chancellor, Niklaus Rheinhardt, is utterly uninterested in peace or due process.
My people. As I've stated earlier, tough times lie ahead. But let me tell you a little something about fear.
Fear is born of uncertainty.
We must remain fearless because we are - now more than ever - secure in the absolute knowledge that our cause is just, that our path is certain and that our purpose is clear. This war is not a struggle that was caused by us. We are fighting to defend and preserve what is ours by Law and by Birthright.
We must remain fearless because we are a free people. Free from doubt. Free from uncertainty. United under one Queen, one Banner and one God.
Indeed, my fellow Bretonians. We must remain fearless. By spirit and history, we are all the inheritors of the just triumph that we fight for every day. In the darkest hours of our collective history, either on Sol or here, we never bowed to anyone. Alone, bombed relentlessly during the Second World War, our resolve remained utterly unshaken. In the conflict that has driven Humanity out of its own cradle, we fought valiantly even in the face of certain death. Our blood burns with cold fire and unyielding resolve - that our homeland is worth defending to the last man, woman and child.
Today, we make no exception to this most glorious legacy.
We have forced our Kusari foes into a deadly stalemate. Not a day goes by without our soldiers coming back to their home bases chronicling their victories on the fields of battle. The process of victory comes naturally and inevitably to our Nation. That is why I pity all those who were not born under our banner, for they do not know the touch of glory like we do!
I can assure the Chancellor of Rheinland that he will not find fertile ground for his delusions of expansion within our Kingdom. We, as well as our allies, will strike with decimating resolve and strength in the defense of our collective Home, acting as one hand, one heart and one soul. As we have done so throughout history, we will be foes not to be underestimated. As we have done so throughout history, we will shatter the dreams and haunt the nightmares of ALL our enemies, regardless of who they are and where they may be. We will be bold, unyielding and - most importantly - victorious in our just cause. No matter the price.
We do not need petty and flimsy excuses to justify our efforts, for our efforts are justified by our uncrushable will to defend ourselves and to preserve our place in the Universe. Remember, the man who seeks excuses for his actions is doomed to fail.
Despite their claims to the contrary, we have extended the laurels of peace to Rheinland. We invited them to the sacred table of negotiation and discussion, provided they withdrew from the foreign territory they were encroaching in. It was, in our eyes, an exceedingly logical and simple condition for peace. Alas, to our most supreme displeasure, to cease their savagery was simply too large of a request for them.
But can we really be surprised of the attitude of their government, fellow citizens? We are dealing with a nation that, for much of its history, has taken a habit of debilitating and destroying even the slightest hints of due democratic process amongst their own people! How can a state so intent on disregarding the will of its people claim to be strong? How can a state so steadfast in its denial of past atrocities committed against their own claim to be moral and just? Rheinland - a state so fractured and dysfunctional that mere dissidents of the government are forced to resort to ARMS simply to protect themselves, their families and their communities from the Gottkanzler's abuse. How can they possibly claim to wage war on us out of moral concern?
The situation is clear. Rheinland is bent on an immoral and criminal quest for territorial expansion. Bretonia and her allies will quickly prove to be the last stop for Rheinhardt's fantasies.
We will protect our homeworlds and stations no matter the cost or sacrifice. We will not yield in the face of adversity. We will not fail. We will surmount ever difficulty in order to win our just triumph!
Bretonia belongs to the Bretonians. ALBION WILL PREVAIL.
Reporter: I am here now with one of those who have listened to the Admiral's speech. A member of the BAF Ensign Kian Williams.
Williams: Evening
Reporter: Mr. Williams what are your inital thoughts on the speech.
Williams: Well the Admiral is right we in the BAF are not excelent orators like those Politicians in the Houses of Commons and The Lords. However, it was time for us in the BAF to be clear. From our side this is not a war over territory beautifull planets and thier resources. It is not a dispute over lines drawn in space. It is a war of ideas. My collegues and I in my oppinion are not fighting for some unreal vision of Bretonia's green and plesant lands, but for a precious idea Freedom and the Rule of Law.
Reporter: What about the Rhinelander's position that they did not want war either and have been forced into this.
Williams: I truly beleive that the Kanzler and His Government did not want this war. They had hoped that their agressive actions would be accpeted by The Queen and the Cabinet with out any defence due to our war with the Kusari. However, immorality and agression must be stood up to, not matter how dangerous it is for our nation. Right must prevail. I have no love of war, having been born on Planet Leeds, I know all the dmage that can be done by it. I am sure the peoples of Kusari and Rhineland are too opposed to war, but to expect us sit down and do nothing in the face of Rhineland's army of darkness is unrealistic. Killing others is somthing i have never been comfortable with, but I will do it to protect my Family, friends and nation.
Reporter I see that is fairly comprhensive. Anything else to add?
Williams: Just this. Bretonia might be a wounded Lion, but that is when we are at our most dangerous. You can flatten New London, Leeds and Cambridge. You can try and starve us, unleash all your develish devices of torture and hold Bretonia and our Queen in unimaginable pain.....but we will NOT SURRENDER. Long live the Queen.
Reporter: Well those are the views on the ground, this is BBC news back to the studio
