Just a few points that folks should keep in mind as 4.86 approaches your faces.
No doubt there'll be an official announcement etc sometime soon enough with plenty of information, keep that in mind if I miss anything.
Pre - 4.86 things to do
1. Un-mount your weaponry on your capitals.
This is important. Do it now to save yourself some bother when 4.86 rolls in and mutilates your setup. If your ship ends up with a nasty loadout, the server probably won't like you.
EDIT:
Quote:Found out I should stress this for battleships. With the new turret hardpoints you can risk that a turret will get stuck on a now not-assigned hardpoint. So it will be mounted, but impossible to unmount cause you won't see in the list when docked.
Sure it can be fixed by some character editing from admins, but that might take a while.
Mjolnir.
2. Be wary of changing cargo holds.
Perhaps of less importance but relevant. Some cargo holds may have been changed. This could cause some bugs if your ship is full etc.
3. Clean Freelancer install will be needed.
Almost a given with mods at this point. You will need a brand new, fresh install of Freelancer. This install can later be used by other mods as Discovery will make a copy of the clean one when installing.
4. Get your ships in the right place.
The CR barge is in the Tau's still. The Tau's that will be filled with GRN within hours. You can see the issue there. Don't let it happen to your ships.
5. Be prepared for balance changes.
This is something that Marburg has already touched on. You may find your ships/guns are not as good as they use to be. Do not despair. If you feel it isn't a justified change, please make a complaint in a polite and legible way. Remember that people have invested countless hours into getting things right.
6. Get ready. Bugs are coming.
This is not a perfect mod. No one here is a perfect person. There will be mistakes, bugs and errors. Some unintentional, some unnoticed, some intentional. Please report these in a useful manner, detailing the actual technicalities involved. As in "When I shoot my game crashes" is not as good as "When I fire my SNAC, my game CTD's".
7. The wait is over.
Perhaps most importantly, have fun. The mod has been created for you, the player, to enjoy. Even if you don't see half of the new stuff or don't like certain aspects, there should be something somewhere that will make you a little happier when playing Discovery.
This post is subject to change and isn't an official statement, just some tips. Hope it helps:)

Why?
I doubt it.
I've installed Crossfire many times without a clean install...

To un-mount weaponary before or after we get 4.86?
