I think the translator idea, while likely more realistic, would just be far too difficult to successfully implement in game. It could make an appearance in any forum side RP. However, yes there should be some language differences. Perhaps just working in latin words and/or phrases (much like other factions do with Spanish, German, Japanese etc.) might be the best approach here.

Mhm, I agree with you there. It's a lot easier to implement, and obliviously if wanting to show a lack of understand the percentage of Latin words used could just be increased.
Legate ................................................................... Questor ............................................ Magister
Mercator is the first rank in the Corporation of merchants.
Every legionary becomes a Junior Centurion, but some of the best legionaries could be chosen as a Praetorian Guard, a special military division under the command of the Legate that (maybe) will use a pirate ID. For now it's just an idea.
Every Primus pilus can become an Equites. The Equites were the cavalry, but in the Republican era were part of the rich side. So a equites could be someone who use a heavy and well-armed transport or a liner.
The Censor is the first rank in the Senate.
The Aedile is a rank over the Censor.
Publican is a rank over the Mercator and the Equites.
Legate, Questor and Magister form the triumvirate that represent the departements.
Haven't had time to look at the Senatorial and Trade side.
Some comments for the military side:
Add Praefectus (Prefect) to the military side. Prefect (legion 3rd in command after senior Tribune, but realistically 2nd in practice) was a veteran military officer and in charge of legion training. In contrast, the Tribunes were born or appointed to their rank via the Senate. So, Tribune is a more political-military hybrid while Prefect allows for a high-ranking officer of a purely military bent. For us, Tribune-Prefect could be equivalent ranks.
Senior Centurion = Pilus Prior? I just like the idea of making things as Roman seeming as possible. No sense anglicizing to Junior/Senior as far as I can tell.
Also, throw in Primus Pilus as an RP rank. If someone wants to play the hardcore veteran that everyone will listen to before anyone else other than the Legate and Prefect (and sometimes the Tribunes, who technically outrank him). Again, this wouldn't really effect the rank structure as there could only ever be one person in this position.
Not sure about splitting the Tribunes into the broad (senate appointed, 2nd in command) and narrow band (born to rank, young, junior officers) type. Perhaps too much detail.
I'm trying to not add too many ranks, but still give it some unique flavour from the largely linear ladders we see in the House Navies.
That works, we still have Tribune on the Senate side.
Senior Centurion to Primus Pilus is good too. It might be a bit odd if we get more than one, but if it seems like that is a problem we can work in Pilus Prior later. I like it for now.
The listing of ranks looks good but considering that it is a senate i'd recommend adding the rank Console, since that was the rank which lead the Roman legions and the empire itself. Ranking I'd recommend having about the same amount of ranks available in each row, just so that people arn't forced towards any specific set. So perhaps two new senate ranks, one being Console and the other could by any suitable rank, i.e. Praetor.
One thing to note about the Console is that they were the head of the Senate and military.
I'm also glad to see you've made the Praetorians a limited group.
With regards to the junior and senior I think it i simpler the way it is and muc easier to grasp as a new commer. Although i've been kicking a screaming about keeping other things 'Roman' so I can't really say your wrong.
On the matter of the Merchants ranks I like your creativity with some of the names, mainly the 'magistrate'.
One question though with the Tribune and Aedile, why are they on the same lines, authority wise? I'm just curious since power wise the Aedile would normally hold more authority.
On a side note I've just put in my application in the recruitment area.

They are on the same lines because I didn't know what ranks put on that line xD I'll fix that with a better rank.
Anyway you are welcome:)

Well ranks wise this was how the senate generally went:
Dictator - Not currently Applicable only ever used if they was a crises.
Consul - Not in Use (Recommended)
Praetor - Not in use(Recommended)
Quaestor - Already in use
Promagistrate - Possible use already in the Merchant Line
Aedile - Being Discussed
Tribune - Being Discuessed
Censor - Already in
Governor - Not really applicable, not at the moment anyway
Ok, thanks, tomorrow I'll modify the ranking structure. Anyway you should choose a rank. We are five members with you. I'm the temporary leader, Diomedes play as Legate, the other two are using only cargos.
Tell me what rank would you have, if it isn't in the ranking structure, I'll try to put it.
