Today is the day.
Ladies and Gentlemen. Sons and daughters of Sirius. All those who value their freedom, regardless of whether you fly under the banner of Kusari Navy, swear your allegiance to the Kingdom of Bretonia, the Rheinland Military, our own Liberty Navy, or simply fly free, beyond the lights of our scanners. Today, is the day we summon you home. Today we face a threat unlike any we have ever known.
One month ago a transport carrying our finest senior Officers to Bretonia was attacked by what we suspect to be the forces of the Gallic Royal Navy. The ship disappeared from our systems and has not been seen or heard from since. All who were on board are now very likely dead. The enemy intended to destroy us, wipe out those who would dare to defy their advance against the free people of Sirius. Those men and women died defending you.
I happened to know 2nd Lieutenant Lisa Baker who flew an escort fighter for that ship. She came in three years behind me at the academy. I knew Colonel David Patton. I did not know General Winters, Airman Shaw or any of the other five brave soldiers who paid the ultimate price that day, but of this, I have no doubt; they would not want their deaths to be in vain. If they died, let it have been to a purpose.
The Gallic invasion is no longer a threat. No longer is it a fearful daydream. Even as I send this message, I receive notifications of enemy warships moving not a system away from our base on Leeds, our pilots risking their own lives to bring that information home. Today, the invasion is a reality. The Gallic Royal Navy stands ready to sweep through Sirius. They do not care about your house any more then they care about mine. To them, we are simply Sirians. If we will not bow to their rule, then we are nothing more than enemies to destroyed, animals to be caged. The enemy's military is vast. Their resources are like nothing we have seen.
But we will not go quietly.
The shadow of Gallic Battleships has already fallen over the residents of Planet Harris, yet they still stand. Even as the invasion forces shift through their system, ships massing in preparation to hit Bretonia, they will not surrender. They do not stand alone. Together with our allies in the Bretonia, the Liberty Air Force will not stand by and accept this attack on the people of Sirius. We will not accept the deaths of our Officers, of our people. The subjugation of innocent men and women will not go unpunished. In three weeks' time our flagship deploys to Leeds to hold back the Gallic incursion. Even it; however, is not enough to turn the tide without assistance.
The Liberty Air Force is currently accepting aid from all parties in whatever form they can offer it. Our airbase on Planet Leeds is in need of supplies, our strike-craft squadrons, in need of pilots. We will stand today, and we will continue to fight for the people of Sirius for as long as we have blood in our veins and ammunition in our bays.
Stand with us.
Melanie Tyler
