Quote: INTRODUCTION
Grussgott, initiate. Reading this document means that you have been inducted into a most prestigious and honorable tradition. Ours is a noble service to ensure the continued existence and prosperity of the great house of Rheinland and the people of the Rhein. We are a select few, chosen for our unwavering loyalty and unmatched abilities, entrusted with the resources and the hopes of the Rheinland people to preserve the Rhein from insidious and obvious threats from within Rheinland and without.
Where the Rheinland military and police forces are the overt guardians of the peace, fielding visible patrols in strong numbers, the BDM is both the unseen eye and the covered dagger of the Rheinwher. We see all and strike quickly, quietly, and efficiently into the hearts of those that would seek to harm us.
DIVISION OF LABOR
There are currently four branches of the BDM in operation as known by level two clearance. These branches are: The Buro of Intelligence, the Unterseebootsflotte, the Logistical Corps, and the Agency.
The Buro of Intelligence, staffed by uniformed officers known as Inspectors, is the public face of the BDM. Inspectors are the political officers of the Rheinwehr, standing vigilant guard over both the physical and ideological purity of the Rheinland people and forces. As liaisons of the BDM with the Rheinwehr at large, Inspectors serve as logistical, tactical, and strategic support axillary units for military combat operations, and often sortie with military patrols in recon or information warfare capacities.
All Inspectors are given free use of the Rheinwehr standard issue 90-ARKM-N45 'Wraith' Very Heavy Fighter, 140-ARKM-N58 'Bergelmir' Bomber, and standard issue Rheinwehr loadouts for both ships. Use of the 19-ARKM-N82 'Mjolnir' Super Heavy Fighter and 13-ARKM-N37 Fafnir Bomber can be permitted based on a case by case basis by evaluators. Capital vessels of Gunboat and Cruiser class may be commissioned for high ranking and especially talented individuals on a case by case basis pending review by High Command.
The nomenclature template for the Inspectors is BDM|Rank-First Name.Last Name.
The Unterseebootsflotte, or the U-Korps, is the armored fist of the BDM. Staffed almost exclusively by seasoned gunboat captains and their crews, the U-Korps makes full use of both the firepower and logistical range of the proud Rheinland Gunboat in order to strike fear into the hearts of enemies deep behind enemy lines. U-Korps captains are both resourceful and ruthless in their task of enforcing the embargo on Libertonian trade and destroying or painting Libertonian warship targets for the Rheinwehr.
As the U-Korps operate almost exclusively beyond regular supply lines, the Korps relies mostly on larger ships with capacity for self sufficiency; gunboats and 13-ARKM-N37 Fafnir Bombers are the main workhorses of the Korps. 19-ARKM-N82 'Mjolnir' Super Heavy Fighters and 90-ARKM-N45 'Wraith' Very Heavy Fighters have been known to base off of customized gunboat carriers. Larger cruiser class vessels have been rumored to operate, but deployment is strictly classified and regulated.
All UFlotte gunboats are to be designated BDM|U-##. All UFlotte fighter and bomber class vessels are to be designated BDM|U-###.
The Logistical Corps serve to support the other branches of the Buro by providing a very flexible variety of services, from the shipping of supplies to various installations throughout Sirius, to hostile exfiltration of operatives deep within enemy territory, to reconnaissance. The Logistical support corps fields a variety of freighters and transports for operations.
All Logistical support vessels are to be designated BDM|LV-NAME.
The Agency does not exist.
OPERATIONS
The BDM operates wherever necessary for the good of the Rhein. Missions deep within Libertonian space by the U-Korps are commonplace, with raiding squadrons of gunboats, freighters, transports, fighters, and bombers attacking targets of opportunity within the Libertonian warship and commercial fleets.
Exploratory missions into the Omicrons and Taus have also been conducted sporadically in efforts to maintain intelligence updates in those regions.
For obvious reasons, Bretonia and Kusari space are to be avoided by obvious Buro assets so as to mitigate the risk of detection and diplomatic fallout to Rheinland. Partially declassified documents have insinuated the presence of special agents operating discreetly within Bretonia and Kusari, with documentation indicating the possibility of extensive and crucial Buro involvement in Bretonia during its brief war with Rheinland.
As the covert guardians of the Rhein, we will be tasked with a wide range of missions to safeguard our great house from threats both foreign and domestic. Subtlety and misdirection are our tools to exploit, death and manipulation is our trade. There will always be times where discretion is best, and others where dramatic flair accentuates our manipulations and schemes - there will always be need for covert assassinations for the quiet removal of subversives, as well as a need to incite fear and confusion in the ranks of our enemies through strength. We will teach you the arts of employing both to the maximum benefit of Rheinland.
