Most of the cases are clear where it's totally out of role play to land on a station or planet but there are certain grey areas also. And I have not seen any faction to post anywhere a list to clarify the situation to the new recruits. Most people base the decision on their rep with the faction that owns the base, but as we all know not all the reps of our characters can stand a closer scrutiny or are works in progress (especially the new guys).
I suggest that factions include a list of bases that are ok to land on for the newcomers in the said faction.
As I understand the allied/friendly bases are ok to land on. The enemy bases are not. This far everything is clear. The problem are the neutral factions. In some idealogically oriented factions (that are considered pirates/terrorists) by their respective houses are not enemies with another house's police/military they are technially neutral, but would be oorp to land. And there are exceptions in the cases.
ZOI of course should take care of these that those incidents do not happen, but there are factions with a large ZOI. To put it simple. Not everything is clear and I'd like this to be clearer still.
Interesting bit of thought there. Would be a rather unweildy beast for some factions to ponder, but relatively simple for the XA. I'll go ahead and modify the faction post now with allowable landing points.
Good idea , but if the persons charecter is correctly repted. The game itself wont alow landing on unfriendly bases and such. But since you said *new comers* I guess thats fine.I have one question do. I have been gaggled but law inforcers for using there bases as cover.I didn't quite get that. The base and all the NPC fire upon me and I don't land on it.I just stay close and use the base to avoid the Dread's fire.Is that realy illegal , or they're just angry 'cuz they can't take me down ?
While some infocards indeed suggest the presence of criminals on planets (IE: the famous Lane Hacker who won the surf competition), it would open up a can of worms to let them dock.
I would say, you can dock on neutral and friendly bases. Anyone else, NO!
In my own point view, having an access code upoaded in my neural net give me a regular access to a base. So it is strictly a personnal access depending of the ID ship and the record of the specific pilot.
I have the strange feeling that all of the regular readers of theses forums already behave with a RP common sense. All we can write, all we can say about RP behavior will affect only those who are ready to play the game. It still remains an excellent idea to specify who can or cannot dock on a base or use a JG (NY-->Alaska).
However, all issues we raise about capship whoring, rules, ooC chat, ooRP behavior will have absolutely no consequences on occasionnal player of Disco mod. I will be very pessimist, but i don't expect to see any RP wise rules being respected by a non-regular reader of the forum.
I'm just learning to deal with it and play with it.
"Perfection, honesty, devotion" "Immortality is our subconscious main concern" "To change the system, you have to be inside the system and play by the rules"
By meaning a base list I definately do not mean spelling out every base that is ok to dock on. That would be a hideous amount of work. But a basic guide line that you can rely on in-game.
I'm a member of RHA and while we are enemies to major house shippers there are "shipping" companies like Gateway (debatable is the Gateway a house shipper) and IC that are grey area. Especially when we are neutral towards indie Interspace people. I think it's a long day coming I see myself docking in Bonn even though the neutral status would technically allow it.
Mostly I'm interested in the bases that are in factions own ZOI and are problematic in some way like the Newcastle research station. I doubt that navy would want every jack and joe to dock there even though they are technically allowed. That is if the guy want's to play in good RP.
its obvious that the zoners allow anyone and everyone to land on their base, be he lawful, or unlawful.
Junkers are pretty much the same, with a couple of exceptions- xenos and hogosha.
Xenos shouldnt land on anywhere apart from xeno bases. corsairs should stick to corsair, order, maybe IMG, and zoner bases. outcasts, should stick to outcast, zoner, BD, hacker, Rogue, hessian bases.
The hogosha and FA are, like people stated quasi legal, so im a bit confused as to where they can land, in terms of lawful bases.
the Corps can land on lawful bases, and on zoner bases, with the exception of bretonian and kusarian ships landing on each other's bases (they shouldnt, since they are at war)
EG: a BMM ship should stay out of kusari, and a kishiro vessel should keep out of bretonia, of they wanna live.
the KNF should stick to their zoi = kusari, taus, etc, same holds for linerty, rhienland and bretonia. i dont patricularly enjoy seeing KNF dessies strolling into NY, with ful tag, id and ship, or mercs whith rhienland gunships in NY.
mercs, they are a bit of a shady bunch, in the sense, that their business depicts their Zoi. a lawful merc wont be going near any pirate base, lest they wanna die, etc, and vice versa. and in my honest opinion, every merc should remain either tagless, or have a freelancer tag, since that pretty much sums up a merc = unwilling to join any faction.
in the case of BH, they have a limitless ZOI, since they are everywhere, even in zone 21, fighting nomads and the order, but still, the PC players should give themselves a certain sized ZoI.
eg: my merc is kusarian born, but is liberty based. (not only cuz of the business prospects, but cuz he has a contract with the SA/LSF, which makes him stay, for the money).
