VP-F2-I Intermix Chamber Mk I
Rheinland's VP-series is the primary engine type used by ships in the house. VP engines are designed with modularity above all else: Initial designs were fuel-hungry, high power units, reflective of the expectation of constant fuel supply from the Crow. When difficulties with the Gas Miners' Guild put that supply in question, fuel efficiency became a greater priority, with short-burn, short-range engines taking priority. Rheinland's explorers in the southern Omegas however still required long-range engines, and the models split apart. Today, VP engines can be configured for any compromise between efficiency and power that is desired, to fit any role, their only outwards commonality being the distinctive green exhaust signature, courtesy of the typical copper sulfate vent burn. The tradeoff of this flexibility is high maintenance costs, as the complex engines can only be effectively serviced by engineers familiar with the type. This engine is intended for use primarily on freighters.
