      Areas of Interest

      Nebulae

      Paloma Ice Cloud

A medium-sized cloud of ice crystals. Rogues frequently hide in the mists, awaiting luxury cargos and passengers from Liberty bound for the pleasure planet of Curacao.

      Roatan Ice Cloud

A medium-sized cloud of ice crystals. A popular hiding place for Rogues and Lane Hackers to attack Trade Lane traffic to and from Manchester.

      Asteroid Fields

      Corcovado Ice Field

A medium-sized field of ice asteroids. Most of the Rogue activity in the system seems centered here, though the Liberty Navy has yet to take any decisive action.

      Orellana Ice Field

A small field of ice asteroids located in the northern part of Coronado. The ice field is reported to have unlawful activity, likely due to a gravitational source in the middle of the field.

      Mineable Zone

      COPPER ORE

Ore is a type of rock that contains minerals such as metals which can be extracted through mining and refined for use. The ores must be processed to extract the metals of interest from the waste rock and from the ore minerals. Many organizations prefer to receive unsmelted ores in order to keep the additional cost of their production and finish within the local economy, as opposed to paying markups to foreign laborers to do the work for them.

      Wrecks

      Betheny - D-4

Previously a rearguard for the Gallic advance into Sirius, the Battleship Betheny followed the much more advanced Carcassonne as it departed the main bulk of forces at Leeds for a new target - California. Guarding the former flagship's flank as it secured a foothold into Liberty's doorstep, the Betheny then saw itself deployed to the Cortez system, stretching the front-line even farther as the Royal Navy made a bid to constrict the crucial supply line from Liberty to the besieged Bretonian state.

Betheny's presence in the system ground trade to a crawl, even with the deployment of the Yukon as a counterweight. While the Alberta-Poole hypergate lane kept Bretonia afloat, its eventual discovery and sabotage by Royal Intelligence put the focus of war planners on both sides back on the crucial artery of Cortez, and the Betheny battlegroup in particular. Quickly outnumbered and outgunned, the Betheny nevertheless held the line in a desperate last stand, crippling the Yukon as it went up in flames. Now little more than a burning husk, the Betheny stands as both a rare trophy for the beleaguered Allies, and a blow to the Royal Navy's once unshakeable belief in their war strategy.

      Yukon - D-4

One of the oldest vessels still serving at the start of the Gallic War, the Liberty's Yukon had been a stalwart defender of California for decades. Its crew and pilots were experienced in handling the raiding craft of Rogues and Lane Hackers, but no amount of anti-piracy efforts could prepare the Navy for the sight of a Royal Navy battlegroup in California, hanging over the gutted remains of San Diego Border Station with a deadly reminder to the proximity of the war. Quickly reinforced by the Battleship Alma from Hudson, the Yukon followed the Gallic warship Betheny into Cortez in a bid to suppress its movements and raiding capability, and keep the Bretonian trade artery alive.

After months of feints, raids, and counter-raids, with strike groups of snubcraft butting heads in the ice fields of Cortez, the Yukon finally received the support it needed to deal with the Gallic threat. Reinforced by the Liberty's Yukon and Bretonia's Harlow battlegroups, the three conducted a simple encirclement of the Betheny group, where the impatient captain of the Yukon finally forced an engagement. In their haste to destroy the Betheny, however, they gave it just the opening to leave its mark on its would-be killers. Wings of strikecraft soared through the Libertonian line as they approached in staggered, broken formation, gutting the Yukon as it came into cannon range. As the Betheny fell to the remaining vessels, so too did the fires of the Yukon smoulder, a grim reminder to the Allies of the danger of their foe, and the ultimate cost they will pay to see an end to this war.
