The Loki Mk. I was the very first of the original Asgard line of ships, designed to replace the aging Border Worlds line and provide the Red Hessians with a vessel fit to operate in the dangerous environments of southern Sirius. The vessel turned out to be slightly slower than comparable fighters, but its stronger armament allowed it to compete against heavier fighters, frequently by catching them off guard with their torpedoes and heavy weaponry, thus giving meaning to the project's codename: "Loki", the trickster.
The Loki Mk. I however, was soon phased out in favor of the Loki Mk. II to better keep up with the Rheinland Military's own developments. In early 828 AS, the Red Hessians decided to toss most of the remaining old Loki Mk. I on the open black market in order to generate some profits from an aged but still reliable design.
